maxx your comments are heard each time The General changes body styles, and amazingly as years pass the Corvette continues to remain a desirable car and the prices begin to climb.

I remember when the C3 came out and you could pickup a 63-67 for under $2,000 and in most case under $1,500 .... Try to find a 67 small block convert for under $20,000 .... remember they sold new for less than $3,000

As for your analogy on the prices dropping :nono maybe faster than potato ;)

You know I bought my vette last year and I feel I got a good deal on it, 1990 w/35000 mile. Then I heard that prices were dropping and yes I guess you are right, but in some area they are stable. But the bottom line is I don't care I love my car and really have no plans to sell it and didn't buy it to make money. I figure it will be around after I'am gone, with the kids driving it. :L ;LOL You only live once so enjoy what you have.

Why bother WONDERING? He may really enjoy his C5 and not really care if the value of it is decreasing rapidly or not. When I bought my Vette, I didn't buy it with concern about what it was going to be worth. What I was concerned about was performance and whether or not the car would meet my driving needs and desires. After 11 years of ownership, I have never once been disappointed, and could care less how much the car is worth.

I'm gonna jump on the "so what" bandwagon. Myself, I'm unaware of any car, Corvette or otherwise, that doens't drop like a stone. Difference is, Corvette's come back. I'm tracking prices of 82s for future purchase and it amazes me that a car that just a few years ago was available for well under 10k for the most pristine low miles model, is now pushing the threshold of 20k. Note that is for a car barely over 20 years old. Hmmmm, what other 82 vehicles are approaching their original sticker prices?

And I seriously doubt that anyone who buys a relatively new vehicle does so with the illusion of making money. If they do, then they've obviously visited the lobotomy bar one time too many. Myself, I had a 71 and didn't make a dime off of it when I sold it. Considering total time and repairs/upgrades, I lost a little. But I enjoyed the hell out of it and don't give a rats behind about the little bit I may have lost.

If someone out there does find a car that is 1-8 years old that is guaranteed to make money, could you please notify me asap:eyerole.

Make room on the "So What" bandwagon, fella's!!! Here come's another one.

I just bought an '03 coupe a month ago. Was my biggest worry the depreciation rate of the car a soon as I drove it off the lot?? No way!! My biggest worry was whether the new car cover I bought would repel the rain and snow we had later that week. It did it's job very well, thank you.

Now my biggest worry is if I can rack up some fun driving miles this season!!! Who cares about depreciation. I bought my car to drive, enjoy and have fun. I really don't care if the bottom drops out of the C5 market. (No offense to the other C5 owners out there) I've got my C5, I'm enjoying it, and that's all that counts in my book!! :D

"near Bolder"? As in Boulder, CO?

Well, actually, that explains a great deal. My regards to your community spokesperson, Ward Churchill- another source of incorrect applications of logic. Understanding is a three-edged sword: your side, his side, and the truth.

Make room for me on the "so What bandwagon" and guess what- I'm depreciating my C5 by racking up the miles, It will hit 80,000 before the end of the month; but I have a huge grin on my face. Who knows maybe it will stay in the family to be worth more then I paid.

A car is a bad investment. If that's what you bought a Corvette for you're nuts. You buy a Corvette because you love the car and want to have fun. Maybe we make the have nots jealous so they feel it nessessary to find a fault with the car and tell us how much we've lost. Too bad for them, it doesn't work because we never bought the car to be an investment and we're smart enough to know that.

I lost a bundle when I bought mine new and boy am I having fun with it. I guess it's a good thing I can afford it. :D

Yea I'm glad they "depreciated" enough so that someone like myself who "appreciates" it could buy it without stressing my budjet too much.;LOL

Congrats on the mileage! Best dam way to get your money out of your puchase!

Use and enjoy the car as much as possible...

Thats where its at...

Maybe I can convert my garage to my living room, and make my Vette the coffee table. This way it will retain as much value as possible, instead of driving it like it was a performace car or somthing like that.

NO MATTER WHAT, after I am done with it, I know I can say that I got my monies worth out of it.

These types of posts add nothing good to this community.

This post is prejudice and offensive. I am surprised that a comment using bigoted stereotypes was allowed in this forum. These types of posts add nothing good to this community.

I wonder if this "new member" even owns a Corvette. Instead of justifying your C5 purchase to this insulting person I highly recommend that everyone use good judgement and ignores these types of posts.

The reference is offensive...as to the C5 prices dropping, well maybe that's why the guy bought a C5...seems smart to me...maybe some jealousy is involved, or maybe someone is maxxed out on smoking something.

I can't believe you guys got suckered in to reponding to this obviously moronic post.:nono

Bluecoupe,
You are correct: Maxxsmoke's post is offensive on a number of levels. The question (if it can be called a question) about the depreciation on their rides that C5 owners are facing now that the C6 is out may be a reasonable one to ask, but the manner in which it was posed was deliberately provocational.

Although I'm not willing to close this thread (yet), I propose the responses henceforth deal with the issue of C5 depreciation and how much of a concern it is to C5 owners, if indeed it is a concern at all.

Maxxsmoke,
In the future, we would appreciate it if you could refrain from using derogatory stereotypes in your posts. The CAC is here as a resource for Corvette owners and enthusiasts to learn and enjoy one another's company, and posts such as the one you started this thread with don't do much to further that purpose.
