The questions we all get asked......

Random guy in a huge pickup: "Hey, i used to own that car! now i got a C6 Z06" Are you high-tech? And definately the most common: how much did it set you back? As my luck would allow though, 99% of questions come from older guys. God forbid some hottie talk to me about my car :hb

    Corvette Hatemail

Id do just about anything apart from sell my Vette to buy a Testarossa. I love the American styling on it, wide rear end, so vastly different from the rest of the less remarkable Ferrari models. It was also one of my dream cars growing up, one day ill have it, although i do fear the ~10-15mpg...

    Sea Foam Review

Do you really have to change the oil after the treatment? I figured you dont need to if the stuff is already getting burned anyways? :confused

another guy DEAD who failed to think...

I built my stands from stacked 2x10 lumber. Its pretty much as solid as a stand can get, if you can call it a stand. Ill admit i have used some less than bright methods to get the car up, but nothing nearly as risky as using a stack of 2x4s.

another guy DEAD who failed to think...

I always rely on wood blocks. They wont snap, bend, or otherwise self detruct. They dont move, and they dont look flimsy. I like to know my tires are resting on the biggest base possible when im working under a 1500kg machine. Its a bit complicated to get such a low car on blocks, but when...

Its not an ultimate garage....yet !

I could live a happy life if i had that much space, not to mention money enough to build a garage that big.

    Differential fluid

Good thread, im happy it resurfaced, otherwise i wouldnt have known about the frictional modifier! Does anyone know what would constitute old/dirty tranny fluid? Since im assuming it doesnt darken due to carbon and the like, what should i look for to tell me it needs to be changed?

    Oil change issues

I do have mechanical ability - im just not a Corvette mechanic :L The only reason i took it to the tech was because i was afraid that if i stripped the bolt too badly, they could never take it off. The compressed air can also makes a lot of sense, ill keep that in mind the next time around...

    Oil change issues

Job is done. Vise grips on really tight did the job. My tech commented that it was on too tight. I could swear they used some kind of pneumatic device to screw it on, there is no way a person could bolt it that tight without shredding it in the process. I had a magnetic plug that i had meant...

    Oil change issues

Well, i used a 15mm to no avail, the nut is too damaged by now. Went CCW, no luck. I could get it off with some really tight grips or other methods, but i dont have the clearance under the car for the necessary leverage. Im taking it to my mechanic and hopefully he doesnt say "this thing is...

    Oil change issues

Not the typical questions here. Im just being frustrated by the oil plug which seems to be stuck really tight. Does anyone know what number wrench i need to take it out? I even tried using vise-grips and it wouldnt budge! I cant use a socket wrench because theres no room between the plug and...

    The 'Vette Z06 Goes Topless

I like it except for the rear end. The lights need to be completely surrounded, otherwise its a ferrari knockoff. Fix that and it would look a lot better. I dont know about those grey fins at the bottom either, they look like they were thrown in at the last minute and shouldnt be there.

How much did you pay for your Corvette

Bought my 02 Z06 in 2006, 52,000km, for 43,000CDN in total including the taxes, paid cash. Considering how much the Zs around here are going for, i think i got a decent deal.

Test Driving a C6 NOT Allowed at Dealer?

My dealer didnt let me test drive the car until it was almost a done deal. I shouldnt have expected any different, id just turned 22. Sometimes though, the dealers are quite liberal about letting you drive their cars. I ask them why they dont worry more than they do, its usually something...

What would be your "other" corvette?

The latest C3 is still before my time, so i think id have to stick with getting the same model... i dont think i could live without my Z.

Has anyone dealt directly with GM HQ

Id imagine GM wouldnt be too happy about their dealer treating a Corvette owner like that. Are they a certified Corvette dealership? I hope not. I wouldnt expect them to bump me ahead of the line just because i have a Corvette; anyone with a warranty deserves wo get what they pay for...

So...how many of us take our Vetts out if it is raining?

My vette is always outside, but I usually wont drive it in the rain if i can avoid it.

    Scratch removal

There dont seem to be that many, or maybe im missing them ;shrug In any event, i found that a coat of wax has done a good job of removing my problems :upthumbs

Used C4 Market (Beware, im venting inside)

I cant blame you for hating Ebay, i think its a ripoff and not the best place to sell a car, youre much better off going around enthusiast sites like this one. Id like a pre-analog dash C4 myself, but i really dont have the money to insure or even park something like that. It would make a...

Rare Callaway Corvette for sale in Aussie auction

I really, really like the look of that car. I think if i bought a C4 id look into getting a body kit like that if at all possible!
