I've heard of this before, where the socket melts in the C6. I believe there is an LED light system for these. They should run cooler. Or, maybe a bulb with less wattage...

"etch marks?" I've heard of crazing, but no etch marks. If it's a manufacturing defect, maybe use your warranty.

Since the engine is still lean, have you replaced ALL the vacuum lines? If any are original, then they are old enough to leak whilst looking "ok." Manifold crack? Gaskets?

"Multi-purpose" silicone spray works well also, and it's cheap. Be sure to cover all the surfaces you don't want "lubricated...":L

Since "cold" is subjective, I use 60F as cold. Let's face it, "Cold" means 2 different temperatures. In Dubai "cold" an be over 100F and Winnipeg can "cold" if only < 0F. I don't know what the difference is in 100F separation, but I've seen my tires "grow" from 30PSI to 38PSI in a half hour...
