First off, Hi Dave, & loved your website. You are leading an interesting life. You got some capable hands working on the 71 with Chris doing the work!
Are you keeping the 71 Black? If so when Chris gets his 69 running we will form a gang & terrorize Florida with Black 454 Sharks!!!!!
Mines in...
Chris, your small block is pulling strong but runs out of breath. The BB will pull till well over a 120 MPH with the setup your building.
One ride in a well built BB is what Cu inches is all about. Nothing compares!
Can't wait to read the posts when its running. I can imagine the ear to ear grin...
Chris... sounds like a Hot ride. But wait till you get that BB 69 fired up. Talk about wheelspin. These torque monsters break the tires loose in a heartbeat.
Even with 3 rear end gear changes & 2 torque converter changes, I can't launch even 50 RPM above a normal 750 idle. With the 3500 stall...
Chris.... I know its to late for your 69 but the addition of a running board between the flares is not only unique but provides the barrier between your legs & the Hookers.
I was considering some new rims as the Westerns have seen there better days so went looking for a set that would support...
Chris did you get the painted or chrome sides, just curious!
Also want to know if you replace the existing tires on your car size for size why would the new ones be 1 1/2" to 2" taller. This is a new one on me. Tread width is at least 1/2" wider also making a full 12" footprint so I now have 2...
Anthony,
Well the first crises is past. And as usual it was something basic. Know how much it meant to you to finally drive that beast. Hopefully you will get to the point soon where seat time will only be spent having fun.
Enjoy Black Cherry,
John
Chris.... You have every right to feel good about the way things are turning out! Those rollbars look very, very nice.
Tell Jimmy Britts I am very impressed with his work. My big question is do you lose alot in rearward travel. I have absolutely none to spare!
John
Chris we already did this. No arcing anywhere.
Mainly just wondered if the modules were prone to losing it & power fell off accordinly. My buddy let me have one to try this weekend.
Need the advance curve checked I guess, if I can find a place!
Curious to know if anyone has had, or knows of someone that has had any problems with their Accel Super Coil set-up. Have heard the module can get weak, inside the distributor.
Any feedback would be appreciated!
John
Jake,
By now you have had a chance to digest some of the best advice I have ever seen on the subject of restoring a Vette. Especially from Tom. He has laid out the real world better than anybody I have seen here at CACC. It is a post that bears rereading and has alot of thought & straight...
Wow is that going to look sharp! Was thinking of that for Thunder after seeing it on the Porche (I think) Can't wait to see how it comes out!
Hope you find a flywheel....reasonable!
Chris,
Sounds like adapting the seats to fit 69 tracks was a little involved. I will always wonder if the 94 tracks being on would only involve some fabricating at the rear as I had to do to get the 80 seats in my 68.
The rear mounting holes extend back further on the 80 tracks so I fabricated...
JCL.... Check out the website for ERA as they claim to have bought all the tooling from D&D. But like I said no changes to the GS section on the site in over a year. Interesting that they have a couple being built last Sept at D&D! What are STS baffles, I am curious?
Rick... I feel your pain...
JCL,
Era Replica Autos claims to have bought all of D&D's Gran Sport tooling. Their website hasn't changed much in the last couple years. The body kit was around 15K. They claim to be refining it.
A few years back there was one at an Eckler show. They were given a front corner & people swarmed...
JohnZ,
Was that an original Gran Sport or built from an existing midyear?
Have seen a few replicas that were well done. I can't even imagine the value of the originals now!
I realize how impractical that car would have been, but it had to be a kick to drive!
John
Another set of Hooker sides!!!! I need to buy stock.
Do you folks realize how long these things have been around!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And they ain't cheap, they ain't the most efficient, but they look good, sound good & change a vettes personality completely.
I like the way so many of you folks think...
