I've got a new one ordered! Tested the switch again and it was intermittent.........worked when it wanted to :r so bye bye. As soon as it comes it will be re-assembly time.

danc5,
My problem turned out to be the hazard switch as neither of my R or L brake lights worked, only the middle light. If you have a voltage tester, locate the large plug at the base of the steering colume that connects to the muti-function switch. (turn signal, headlights, cruise control...
danc5,
If you still have an issue with no brake lights on one side after checking your wires, I think I can help. Just spent way too much time troubleshooting a similar issue with no brake lights except the center high mount. I have a pretty good understanding now.

Thanks Jesse...gmjunkie
After a look at them "skeematics" it was no doubt the hazard switch. A bit of testing confirmed that. Finally tore the dash apart and got the dang thing out. Took it apart, cleaned it with some denatured alcohol and reassembled it. Plugged it in and retested, and the...
Well hopefully Paul will see this post soon. I'm a little surprised that nobody has seen this before. It would be great to have a starting point. I think I'll take a run at tearing down the steering colume and take a look at the stem switch unless someone has another suggestion. ;shrug

Anyone seen this before? The 4 large brake lights on my 02 have quit working. Bulbs are good, flashers work, turn signals work, the 3rd brake light (middle light) comes on when the brake is applied but none of the others. ;shrug Is it the brake light switch? Why does the middle light work and...
I have Michelin Pilot Sport ZP's on the front with a still very serviceable pair of EMT's on the rear. I am very happy with the Michelin tire, handles better than the EMT's that were replaced.

Now that's good news Bud :upthumbs it is hard to believe that it took so long to find the shock stuffers. I will tell ya though the Chevrolet dealer in Bowling Green is pretty disappointing. I've had the 02 in there 3 times for the same issue, and it's still unresolved, so maybe I shouldn't be...
I replaced my stock air box with a Donaldson Blackwing and it made a very noticeable difference. If you are going to modify the top of the stock box or go to any open filter like the blackwing you will absolutely need to install the aftermarket seal at the front of the hood to keep water off...
I got mine here last year http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/catalog/frameset.cfm
you will need to add the nut if you want to replace it an additional $5. These are GM parts not aftermarket.

Getting the EMT's on and off the rims is a bit of a challenge. But like I said, and apparently so you have discovered, the right machine and properly trained techs are both needed to accomplish the mission. I was lucky to find a local dealer here in Scottsville, but rest assured that if I had...
You absolutely need a new a tire guy!!!! I've replaced a sensor, and bought a complete set of tires in the past 2 years. I have stood in the garage and watched as the tires were removed and reinstalled on the rims not 20 feet away. If your tire shop has modern equipment for aluminum rims and has...
Bud,
Great to hear that "The Day" has finally come. I'm certain that you and Nanc will be on that first ride with latte in hand early today. Enjoy....sounds like it might even be a top down day there in Amarillo.

Your a brave guy if ya go I-80 from Jersey to Ohio. I traveled that route this summer to Maine and like to knocked the wheels off my C5. Rough was an understatement. Came back 81 to 64 and acrossed WV back to KY. Much prettier ride and excellent road.
Actually gmpartsdirect is cheaper by a few bucks
