I feel pretty good by hanging on to my old 88 because what was old is now new again with the digital dash. I remember the first time driving the car I'm sitting at a long light and I look at the digital temp gauge and it's at 230*! At the time I didn't know about how hot the C4s ran. Even now...
I replaced the air dams on my 88 about 10 years ago. I wish I could remember if there was a trick to it but it seemed like all I did was unbolt the old and put on the new. Depending on how bad yours are scratched up, you might now worry about doing it. After 10 years mine look as bad as the...
I think you are probably going to have to go to a dealer. They will probably need to verify the VIN and ownership before they make you a new key. The VIN should tell them what key to make with the proper resistance pellet in it. I ran into a similar problem on another car and that's what I...
Just something I picked up on another forum. A guy locked his car and when he went to get back in, using the fob, the fob battery had died. No problem, he has a key. Unfortunately the key cylinder was bad and the key wouldn't work, even though it worked in the ignition.
I'll admit I would have...
For C5Vetter, now I understand your question. This is the link for my club members car: Chevrolet : Corvette Convertible in Chevrolet | eBay Motors. It's a fantastic car. The reason he's selling is he has his eye on a 57 Bel-aire. He still has a 2009 coupe but I like to have his car in the...
Haven't seen you on here for a long time Barry. Beautiful car and good luck with the sale. Fellow club member is selling his restored 67 vert and while I have the desire, my bank account says no. Are you replacing it with anything?

I've had my 88 for almost 12 years and after looking through all the catalogs throughout the past 12 years I've never seen these before. Also interested to see what they are called.

We have two of the anniversary edition 427's in the club and they are amazing cars. I'm jealous. :D
Now if they would just let me drive one...

I did a plant tour a couple weeks ago and if I remember correctly, they hydroform the steel chassis in house but buy the aluminum Z06/ZR1 chassis from another company. However my CRS kicked in and I can't remember the name of that company or where it is. Sorry.

I was able to get to the light socket with the hood open on my 88. Or you can reach up from the bottom as John said. Twist and it detaches from the fender.
And welcome to CAC. A great bunch of folks here who have helped me with my car for a number of years.

For what it's worth, I was at the NCM last week when a fellow club member got his new 427 Anniversary convertible. Our son and I did the plant tour. The old XLR line in the plant is all partitioned off and is suppose to be re-tooling for the C7. Several club members saw pictures of the...
A club member is doing a museum delivery of his 60th Anniversary Convertible on Friday, Sep 7. Since my wife has to work our son is going with me. I've been through the plant several times but this will be his first time to the plant and museum. He's pumped especially as I'm making him drive...
Another Al Gore prodigy! Extrapolating data from two car wash events is not the same as me washing my car in the driveway. I don't let the hose run for 10 minutes as stated in the article nor do I use harsh detergents. Some of these folks need to get a life!!!

If my memory is correct, when you get your paperwork from NCM you will find it is a regular Corvette. I believe Greenwood kits were add-ons and did not come from the factory. Looking at your pictures I think your car had a Greenwood kit installed somewhere in it's life.
I'm sure someone...
OK I generally hang out in the C4 section but our club sponsor gave me two (2) 2011 Corvette factory brochures. They are roughly 9 X 12. Would be a good addition to anyone that has a 2011.
So in thanks for all the help I've gotten on CAC, the first two who respond to this thread and send me a...
