    Aux. Fan Question

When I was having issues with my AC, a shop I took the car to did just that, hard wired the aux fan. I hated it. First, it didn't properly fix the AC (I ended up buying gauges and doing it myself) and secondly, that fan is designed to run not only if you get too hot, but when the AC is turned...

    Question: Exhaust Manifolds

I believe that's the case. If you find that you need a pair, I have a set, but don't have the heat shields for them.

Help! Drove car to work. Towed back home

Did it drive fine until you slowed down? When you slowed down did you use the brakes, or down shifted? Was everything normal then? What happened when you tried to move the car after you stopped? Can you get it into gear okay? Did the engine rev normally but no movement? Same in forward or...

    81 parts for sale

Morris, I appologize for not responding, I didn't see your posted question, not sure why it didn't come to my email either. I don't have the bracket any more, you might be able to find one at a corvette salvage yard via the internet. I know they're pretty hard over on this kind of thing out...

    1980 Corvette Front Dash Speakers:

I did. I used the "buckets" behind the 6x9's. I cut my bezel. I looked at it this way, I could spend the money and buy one pre-cut, or if and when the time comes to sell the car, let the new owner decide if they want the sound system or not. If not, I'll knock the $200 off the price or add...

    Promise ya wont laugh HELP!!

Clean the area the gasket sits in really well. Use a small amount of RTV to hold the gaskets in place on the smaller sides of the valve covers, and the tabs of the gaskets to hold the long sides (if your gaskets have them). Use a small screw driver to line the holes up and bolt them up. :thumb

    1980 Corvette Front Dash Speakers:

Thanks for the compliment!! The enclosures for the 6X9's are open in the back. I used foam "buckets" that issolate the speakers instead of closing them. You can get the buckets from any shop that does installations, they're cheap, the place I got my equipment from gave them to me. It saves a...

    1980 Corvette Front Dash Speakers:

I just did a system in my car, and found a couple of things. First, fitting modern 6X9's in the factory spot didn't work for me. The new speakers were to deep and the magnets were to big to fit in the original holes. Second, since I carry a few things in my storage compartment and the jack is...

    instrument panel bulbs

When you replace the bulbs, keep in mind you can get different wattages for the same size buld. I think they vary from around 2 to nearly 5 watts. Go for the higher wattage, you'll be glad you did!

Question: Tach wire on an 81 Pics.

The tach lead from the factory has an in line filter that's on the EGR selenoids, comes from the firewall, then the filter, then is routed to to the distributor cap. If the EGR parts and the filter aren't there or aren't used anymore, the tach lead actually originates from the harness on the...

    Speedo

I believe you, but when I talked to John, he said to clock the car and send him the info, he could calibrate at the head... Which is good, cause it's a pain to play with the driven gear in the 2004r I have in the car, and I'd have to change both the drive and driven gears!! I'll verify it next...

    Speedo

I sent mine to Red Line Gauges Home. John has a great reputation, and does not only speedo's but other gauges as well. I sent him my actual speeds (in 10 mph incriments) and what my speedometer was reading so he can calibrate it. He'll then put the 140 face on it. I'd opt for the 165, but John...

    Speedo

It'll go alittle past 85 and stop moving. It won't hurt it at all....trust me. I'm in the process of changing it to a 145mph speedo this week though. First an 85mph speedo in a vette just doesn't seem right, second, as alot of folks routinely drive speeds near that on the highways so it makes...

    instrument panel bulbs

When you buy replacement bulbs, check the package. There are several numbers that are the same shape and size, but the wattage is different. Just like household lamp bulbs. I use the 4.7W bulbs (I think they're 198's) and they're much brighter than the 161's which are at 2.something.....

    Help! '79 mystery brake problem

You might also try "power bleeding" if you haven't bled the brakes that way yet. You can buy or make a power bleeder (I made one with a small garden sprayer, some tubing, a plate of steel with a rubber gasket and a C clamp), the idea is to slightly pressurize the master cylinder with brake...

Question: Why Won't My New Blower Switch Work?

It's likely a loose wire in a connector that's keeping the switch from working at all, make sure the connector is on the switch straight. Also, sometimes these wires back out of the connector just enough not to make contact. Check that too. If that's all good, then I'd check the resistor...
