    Street legal

The first thing you need to know is what cam is in there. Before doing anything to the chip. The chip itself does control the idle quality and the A/F ratio, so it is possible that it isnt set for your cam. Check the TPS, remove and clean the TB and IAC. Hopefully that will fix the idle...

    Oil pressure low.. Danger?

Yes 18 is low. I havent noticed much variation between brand or type, but I have with weight of the oil. 15w50 will have a higher idle pressure than 10w30 or 5w30, but I didnt notice any real difference between the Castrol GTX and the Mobil 1 i run now, back when i switched over. K&N oil...

    Youre golden.

    Oil pressure low.. Danger?

I think its probably your injectors, a spun bearing will usually be loud.

    Oil pressure low.. Danger?

If you spun one, you'd damn well know it. Youll hear the knocking. The oil pressure has to drop below about 4psi at idle to have the warning light come on, that thing is useless. Your engine could be blown long before it ever turns the warning light on.

    Oil pressure low.. Danger?

No, thats not within factory specs, and its not good. When you crank the car, it should jump to the mid 50's idling, and a hot idle will be in the high 20's-low 30s. When cruising around, anytime your foot is on the gas it needs to be over 50psi, and at full throttle it really needs to be...

    Shock Replacement-When??

Well since shocks are done usually by 75K, id say yours are toast. You can do the fronts without even jacking up the car. Total job shouldnt take more than 2 hours.

To race or not to race???

The problem is, theyre underrated. These things put out SICK numbers. Most put close to that 390 at the wheels, with just a small change to the SC.

    L98 Primary Cooling Fan problem

Check the relays first. On 90, i believe they are on the side of the radiator.

    Mass airflow sensor

From everything I've read, the F-body MAF will work just fine if its from the L98.

    EGR function

Its primary function is to reduce NOx in the emissions by reinserting the exhaust gas back into the combustion chamber where its burned. Its a minor add-on, more for the CARB requirements, and it has been removed in the new Corvettes. I dont think LT4 had it either. It can be a cause of surging...

    higher octane gas=lower emissions?

I only use the Techron stuff, only once a year. Higher octane wont help you pass emissions at all.

    Looking for "quiet" performance exhaust

Unfortunately there really isnt one thats quiet and still gives HP. Corsa is the only one that has a quiet idle and yet can get loud when you want it. If you want quiet, youll have to order this one, throw away the resonator, and have it welded on. Borla, B&B, Flowmaster....all have...

Has anyone here ever taken out a loan to pay for a new engine?

If so, what were the circumstances and what did you do?

    Royal Purple oil

Its supposed to be really good, I've considered switching to it before. Any synthetic is fine though.

    Stock Thermostat for 94 LT1

Stock thermostat in LT1 is 180. If anyone's is not opening around 180, replace it.

Common Threads These Days. Go Here for T-Stat, TB BP, and Summer Cooling

Corvette C4's are designed to run hot from the factory because of emissions. Coolant temps over 220-230 are normal during city driving in heavy traffic or just idling for some period of time. It should come right down below 200 on the hwy. Generally, if your stat is opening at the correct...

    Does a 84-96 C4 handle better than a similar equipped C5?

An 84 Z51 would run circles around most C5s (not Z06), simply because the 84's suspension is so good for autox. Only problem it really has is the lack of power. So on a tight course that 84 should win or be right there. On a long course, not as much of a shot, depends. Later models, the C5...

    c4(L98)to LT1 swap

Difficult because of the LT1's reverse cooling setup, and the auxiliary stuff will need to be changed.

How are you autocrossing and drag racing your A-4?

I'm speaking from personal experience here. My timeslips showed no appreciable difference in either autox or drag.
