Almost a Miracle!!!
Mike thanks so much, you’re brilliant!! It came out easily as you said. I found that if you simply heat the metal sleeve inside the strut bushing, the rubber immediately around the sleeve melts allowing you to almost pull out the bushing with no effort. Apparently, when...
I recently sent out my Trailing Arms to Vette Rx in Conifer, Colorado for rebuilding. These guys seem to be real pros in the C3 suspension area and their prices are right.
As part of the job I decided at the last minute not to buy rebuilt strut rods with poly bushings and simply replace my...
The car has factory PS. I tried the back and forth of the steering with the wheels off the ground and that helped some. I problably need to do it a few more times. I will try removing the line as was suggested.
Thanks for your input. I have no doubt that there was air in the system after my rebuild. I took it out for a drive for about 3 hours yesterday thinking that it would purge the system. It didn't. Here lies the problem if it isn't the air. I believe I did a careful rebuild of each component...
I rebuilt the box, pump, valve and slave cylinder. Now that its all complete the steering is tight as a new car except that the steering is inconsistent and is hard to turn when I come to a stop and try to make a turn. On the highway it seems to be pretty good but I still notice considerable...
It could be that the spring has turned and is rubbing against the A frame. This happened to me when I rebuilt the bushings and took the A frames apart. The springs are slightly bent and need to be installed the same way. Is it a creak or a scraping sound?
If you're looking for a project to do this winter and reupholstering your front seats is it, here are two tips that will help. The upholstery guys are going to send hate mail to me about this next comment, but oh well you need to know that recovering your seats is a piece of cake and you...
I'm about to install new seat covers and foam. Is it a good idea to also install repair plates for the seat back regardless if your frame is broken or not?
High Performance Heads vs L82 Heads Strapped on an L48 - Quest for more Horsepower!
I have a 75 L48 and don't rub it in about the horsepower. In my quest to improve performance I'm looking into finding a pair of L82 heads in a wrecking yard vs going with an aftermarket high performance set...
Hi, my VIN is 1Z37J5S401294. I've tried to Google info on the production month with no luck. Can you give me a source to look at or tell me if you know.
I'm sticking with them.
I agree Corvette Central is great to work with. They admitted their problem and are working on a solution and even gave me a credit that I used towards another item. They have my vote.
Corvette Central Steps Up to he Problem
Corvette Central got in touch with me and admitted that their kit has a problem and that they are looking into. This is nice to see in a world where "customer service" has for most companies gone to hell in a hand basket. I'm glad that I didn't have to...
Have you considered which kit to buy when rebuilding your power steering valve? The prices are all over the place and each kit is different. Don't make the mistake I did. Recently, I purchased a valve rebuild kit from Corvette Central. I thought that buying the more expensive kit would...
Get rid of the AIR. Pack it up and store it somewhere safe. You don't need it. Did you go with dual 2 1/4" exhaust system? Some thought perhaps towards a performance cam.
