Stock mufflers do not.. I've see this happen before though pretty much every car I have seen has had a muffler after the cat and the chucks get through.. they just blow through the exhaust.. my guess is the cat has been degrading for a long time..

If you have chunks of media coming out the pipes the cat is toast. Now there may be another issue that caused it to fail. If the cat was plugged I would think if you raised up the R's in neutral it would stall out because it can't breath IE exhaust restriction. -=Rick

Hmm.. ok.. I am just wondering there was mention of a different key... The only car that had a the "power" key or whatever was the ZR1 as far as I know.. so I wasn't sure if there was confusion.. it doesn't make sense.. I would grab the vin and have c4c5 do a VIS on it to see what it was from...

I agree that stuff is nasty.. I hate it.. in emergancy maybe.. but my experiance has been it really doesn't seal the tire that well.. maybe enough to get to a service station possibly.. but if given the option I would not use it I'd rather have it towed.. or have someone bring a spare to me or...
