All you need is a jack to carefully lift the rear spring up and releive the stress on the lower nut. Then just swap bolts, drop the new bolts in place and gently allow the spring back down onto the lower nut. No need to remove wheels or raise the rear off the ground. Drive the car some to...
I agree. Worth every penny. I got mine on ebay for $42 and is in great condition.:D It has paid itself and saved me un nessesary work in the short time I've had it. If you can't get one of these, the Haynes is your next best choice, but still a far cry from the Shop Manual.
Fuel pump replacement is a 10 minute job, and having to remove the fuel tank is rediculous. I seen other similar mistakes in the Chiltons manual about replacing the door handles. It calls for removal of unnecessary items. All you need to do is remove the door panel, not all the BS it says you...
Actually, early C4's have a mechanical mileage odometer that can be read with everything off, instead of a digital odometer like the late C4's that turn off when the key is out.
I had a similar "clunk" sound. It was cause by a loose rear spindle nut. Took me a while to think of checking that before I found it.They need to be torqued to 165 ft. lbs. Easy check if you have not done it already.

Here is another free mod for you. The "Throttle Body Coolant Bypass"
I did not see it in your list of mods.
What you need:
Buy an 18" long piece of 3/4" diameter hose with a 90 degree bend on one end from your local parts store. Should not cost more than $5.
How to do it:
1.Drain some...
Update
The Bose System RPO code is indeed in my RPO sticker. Also, there is a similar connector under the opposite side speaker. It has the same color wires as the Shop Manual shows for as the "RH Rear Amplifier/ Speaker Unit"
This proves without a doubt that my 86 came with the Bose System...
That's a good idea. The Shop Manual shows a "RH Rear Amplifier/ Speaker Unit" as well. The color wires for this one are Light Blue, Dark Blue, Black, and Pink.
If I find another disconnected connector with these color wires on that side, guess you can say I found my answer. I am going to go...
There was. I removed it to gain access. The speaker is off to the side, note visible in the photo. It has aftermarket 6x9 speakers and an aftermarket Clarion stereo with a 6 disc CD changer. I beleive the original owner removed the Boset system and installed this one. Does anyone know what the...
I have standard seats. The hatch release works fine so that can't be it. I beleive it's for the Bose system that this car had at one time before I bought it.
I think it's for the "LH Rear Amplifier/ Speaker Unit" Shown on page 8A-150-3
of the 86 Shop Manual.on the top right hand corner.

In the process of discovering a severly corroded ABS Control Module Relay, I found this 4 wire harness sitting on top of the other ABS Control Module connectors disconnected. I found that all the ABS harnesses and connectors in there are plugged in, except this one. I could not see anything that...
I have the Hooker 2151-1. Same thing except mine have no emissions fittings and are ceramic coated. They give way better spark plug access that the stock ones. Fit is great. Expect a long day if it's your first time installing long tube headers. Stock dipstick will no longer secure to the header...
