    Aaaarrrggghhhhhh! The noise went away

It buzzes when the car is sitting still with the key off, key on, doesn't matter. I can't tell if it's buzzing with the engine running. lol It sounds more like a stuck relay than anything. What puzzles me is that when I pull the breaker, it stops. Then it didn't start again until several...

    Aaaarrrggghhhhhh! The noise went away

It's gotta be ghosts. Today, I went out in the garage and the thing sounded like a buzzsaw. Again, I was busy and couldn't pull her apart but the noise sounded like it was coming from either the left side of the area behind the information center or the right side of the area behind the guage...

    Aaaarrrggghhhhhh! The noise went away

I am perplexed. Two nights ago, my 87 Vert started buzzing. It ran fine, I parked it in the garage and everything was hunky dory. The next morning, there was a buzzing sound coming from behind the dash. I couldn't tell precisely where but I believe it was from either behind the speedometer...

    Trottle Body - Sticky

Congratulations. I know that was bugging you. Thanks for letting us know how you made out.

    1987 Vette Convertable

I think you might be wise to clean the TB thoroughly and make sure it's adjusted properly before you go and replace it. Crud inside the TB might be causing the butterflys to hang up before they are in the closed position. You might also want to disconnect the cables and work the throttle by...

    Steering Wheel repairs

If the wheel is peeling, it helps to use a razor and trim the little tags of leather which are lifting off the wheel prior to dying it with leather die. Apply the leather dye (several coats while allowing it to sink in and dry between them and then buffing before applying the next coat). Then...

opinions - don't fix it if it ain't broke

For what it's worth, I agree with the mechanic.

    LCD Display

I have found that shrink tubing works very well for both removing and replacing the bulbs. Just get a size that's close to the diameter of the bulb, slip it on and just barely heat it enough to grab the old bulb. Pull it straight out. The same piece of tube can be used on the other bulbs...

    87 heads

LOL Lunch at Tavern on the Green is only a little more expensive that a couple of Bloody Mary's in the Oak Room at the Plaza. Bring a tie.

This might help with your decision making. http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/kb/question.php?qstId=328

    87 heads

I don't understand this. A competent mechanic can replace the seals in less than a couple of hours without even removing them from the engine. How many miles are on the engine? Are you having performance problems (other than a puff of smoke on start-up)? It doesn't make sense to me to...

Early C4 Headlamp help needed! New Problem!

You might try placing your hand on the headlight motor while an assistant flips the switch so that you can "feel" whether the motor is working. I'm hard of hearing myself so I have to do this sort of thing quite often. I haven't had to rebuild mine (yet) but I understand that a reasonably...

    Front end shaking

I don't believe I'd want to be driving a car with tires that were 10 years old in any case.

    Loss of power

With no other information, my first thought was cats. Are your's original? Will it run at slower speeds and progressively get worse the longer you run? Does the tach go up but with no corresponding increase in power?

    dash

If an 84 is like an 87, yes it does but the grounding system isn't usually the problem, burnt out bulbs are. Changing the bulbs is no big deal. Just remove the bezel from the dash, remove the heat sinks, and the bulbs can be easily removed and replaced. Be careful not to touch the new bulbs...

    tEMP GUAGE ON 94'

If it's like any other analog gauge I've ever seen, no you can't do that and if you try, you'll probably ruin the guage. First, are you sure the sender was broken and not the guage itself? Second, if it was the sender, are you positive you installed the proper sender for the guage? You MUST...

    Bose question

I have the standard Bose system with a cassette deck only. It works fine but I'd like to be able to use CDs in addition to tapes. Does anyone know what year Bose started to include the CD player instead of or in addition to a tape player?

    Bose question

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. While the physical removal and installation of the new unit looks pretty straight forward and easy, I am concerned whether the harness for the old stock unit will hook up directly with the new one and don't want to buy a new unit if I have to make a ton of...

What am I missing Fog Lights?

I believe there is supposed to be a relay for these lamps. Can you describe the connector you mentioned? I don't have access to a shop manual for the '84 but it sounds like someone may have removed the relay. If that's the case, you should probably find out why they removed it.

    TRANNY COOLER

Is there any rule which says an aux. transmission cooler must be located in front of the radiator? Would it be possible, since it would appear that you're doing some serious mods (which will increase the work of the radiator also), to locate the cooler at the rear of the car and feed it with...
