    79 vette dash removal

You need top remove the carpeted side panels from the console to get to the 2 screws installed from under the console trim plate up into the center gauge bezel. While you can get at them, I found it helps to remove just the screws holding the console trim plate in place. This gives you a little...

    alternator to battery

These are the two MAIN fused links. One is for the headlight circuit and the other is for everything else. The link is the short wire between the plastic connector and the starter terminal. Check these first before wasting money on a battery that you may not need. Is your battery really dead or...

Question: Mounting Courtesy light on kick panels

Feel around under the dash lip for a moulded in depresson. The light housing snaps in. It's a pain to get it seated. Pic shows the location of the light installed.

    Interior/Dome/Kick Panel Light's stay "On"!

Courtesy delay timer. I see them occasionally on ebay for like $75, sometimes one pops up for under $20. There's a way to bypass it and lose the delay feature. I've never done that but I'll see if I can find that info, or someone else may post it.

No More Buying Power Window Switches

Get your fingers up under the lower edge of the carpeted panels and lightly tug. The way it flexes may help you locate the screws. I'll take some exact measurements later today. edit..... OK, here's where you SHOULD find the screws, Both ends, 2" in from the end, 4 1/2" down from the top edge...

No More Buying Power Window Switches

Uh, OK:rotfl The carpet does not need to be removed from the panels!

No More Buying Power Window Switches

The 3 screws hold the fibreboard panels that the carpet is attached to. You kinda got to search for them as they're burried in the carpet nap. Move the seat forward and look a few inches forward of the bulkhead. Then right next to the seat bottom cushion, and forward under the dash. You CAN get...

    79 Elec fan thermal switch

Pretty sure the 81/82 fan switches are different fitting size and won't screw into the earlier heads. Maybe an adapter?

    Question: New T-tops Leaking

I know how we all want to get things correct on our Vettes right away but adjusting the tops might be a little at a time thing. With the brand new weatherstripping, I would adjust it snug and leave it for a couple of weeks. Then adjust it a little tighter as the weatherstrip compresses over...

Question: 1979 - Early vs Late

What do you mean the top of the mast? The smallest diameter mast section is connected to the nylon leader as shown in the pic above.

Question: 1979 - Early vs Late

That's the part you need then, the top mast section which has a long nylon line attached that feeds in and out of the motor pulley to raise and lower it. I used to say check with your GM parts dealer but now I'd suggest going with one of the Corvette vendors. It's really a pretty easy fix...

    Question: T-top Replacements - I'm confused!?!

Well, I would have bet I had PPG glass on my set of aftermarket, but they're NOT. LOF, Grey, Tempered, Safety Float. The originals are.... LOF, Blue, Laminated, Flo-lite Out of curiousity I looked at the regular glass on my wife's daily driver... PPG, Tempered, Flo-lite(nothing about 'solar...

Question: 1979 - Early vs Late

None of the vendors offer the original style aluminum housing antenna, you pretty much gotta find one privately. I have 3 of them, tho:upthumbs If your motor runs it's usually fixable. You say the upper section is bent, are you talking the very top section with the tip on it? That section is...

    Question: T-top Replacements - I'm confused!?!

The original tops were LOF and LAMINATED glass. Very prone to breakage. The aftermarket tops are the PPG and TEMPERED glass, a bit more durable. I would THINK anyone selling NEW tops are selling the PPG TEMPERED tops, tho there may be a few of the older sets floating around out there for big...

Question: 1979 - Early vs Late

Regarding your antenna, if your fender has a slight circular depression where the antenna protudes you should have the late 79 'slimline' plastic model. That one has a chrome screw on bezel at the opening. The early 79 antenna has a wedge fit black plastic bezel and no modification to the...

Question: I know the answer, but I have to ask . . .

I'd just take the wheels off and do it right. If the wheels have been polished and/or aren't clearcoated, use some regular paint stripper on the slots. Keep it off the black centers, tho, unless you want to refinish that, too. Somebody in the past painted your slots as original 79 wheels would...
