Any helpful hints to replace antenna cable?

Take a razer knife and slit the rubber grommet lengthwise.

    Tach Board

NOOOO! 78-82s you don't need to remove the speedo/tach cluster. Simply remove the 3 SHORT screws at the top of the bezel and one on each side and remove the clear window. 6 allen screws removes the speedo/tach bezel. 3 phillips screws removes the tach face. All from the front.

    Air cleaner decal positioning

It's in a slightly different place on each of my Vettes, but here it is on my Pace Car.

    81 Power Antenna Questions

Yeah. the nylon leader is the piece with the top mast section attached. I have one of those, non CB, pretty good instructions included in the package. I did some checking on my Vettes. Make sure your existing antenna is the factory original, not the "GM service replacement"(as on my white 79)...

    81 Power Antenna Questions

Yeah, you need to drill out that center one. I looked and I found the mast sections. They are actually for 78-early79 antennas but should fit the later plastic slimline model. I say that because the later mast sections DO fit the earlier antennas but are about 1/4" longer. I don't think these...

    81 Power Antenna Questions

Did you drill out the center of the round section? I may have the mast sections if you can't find a new assembly, but I need to look first. I know if I still have it the chrome is slightly worn, tho.

    UNDERHOOD LIGHT

There's a mercury switch inside the light housing. The switch by the firewall is for the factory alarm.

    Need help finding RPO's for a '78

They come up on ebay from time to time. Can be a gamble with shipping, tho. Lot of guys have claimed broken in shipping. The "correct" date codes for blue Pace Car tops would be XJ(feb 78), LJ(march), GJ(april) or possibly JJ(may) of course depending on your VIN. These codes are to the right...

    Need help finding RPO's for a '78

If there's no evidence of a CB radio having been in it(antenna or mike bracket) then it came with an AM/FM/8track which was standard for the Pace Car. The blue tinted tops are standard, and they would be date coded. Look for a 2 letter code and post it. I or someone else can give you the date...

    Unleaded Fuel Only Decal....Placement?

Here ya go. On the spoiler.

    Low Fuel Light

Just a tip. You can reach it from the glove box opening. Pull the box out, 6 screws. Beats pulling the bezel out again.

    Low Fuel Light

I'll bet you plugged the bulb directly into the center gauge panel without the necessary little circuit board. Common mistake.

caliper rebuild using "lip" type seal

I simply use one of those small jewelers type screwdrivers to CAREFULLY tuck it in. A 1 1/2" white plumbing pvc cap is great for installing the front DUST seal. 1" cap works for the rears.

Hood will not open.. any suggestions?

What show you going to? If you're south of Chicago, I could meet ya and show you how to open it. Or try this. Release the drivers side, that's the harder side to do when that cable breaks. Then raise the wipers and park them in the up position. Look just inward of the passenger wiper in the...

    Radio assistance

Yep, like mentioned, remove the carpeted side panels(a 90+ screwdrive helps with the screw by the seat, or just pull the lower cushions out) and look for a screw on each side up from the bottom. It also helps to remove the screws from the console(don't remove it!) which will give you some wiggle...

Need Help with Part ID !!

That looks like the AC support that bolts up UNDER the compressor. Other end bolts to the motor near the fuel pump. It doesn't have the 90+ bend at the one end like the upper support in duke's pic.

    81 Shocks

Was just wondering about that! Just put some new Delco gas shocks that I've had in a box for a few years on the front of my black 79. After peeling the label off I noticed NO mention of Delco, unlike the shocks I took off. Old ones have Delco stamped into them and even the date code. I'm...
