    help!!! a power loss

There's many reasons to lose power. First and easiest to check is what's the code your getting? Do you know how to get the # from the computer? There was a post recently here about power loss on the Callaway due to the vacuum line coming off the microfueler under the dash.

    Hats Off to *89x2*

Re: Well said Eric No kidding on not wanting to be responsible for a misquote. That thread on CF got somewhat ugly. As for the atmospheric pressure thing what you say makes sense. I just don't remember the guage showing less than 30" with the engine off. I'll have to wait for next year to...

    Rear Fascia Sag

One question--did you drill a hole in the very CENTER of the sag? That should be at virtually dead center between the sides. The reason I ask is that my aluminum piece from GM has the 4 holes about 2-3" apart and it straddles the center. I would have thought there should be a fastener right at...

Do Callaways with Dymags ride better than stock Vettes?

Re: Funny you should say that... They didn't do that on the '87s. :cry I verified this with Callaway before doing a little upgrade work to mine. New brake fluid, rotors surfaced, semi-metallic brakes and steel brake lines give me a lot more stopping power than I had. I never thought my brakes...

    Hats Off to *89x2*

Re: Sincere thanks. If at all possible, please try to make a more central location. I will make a real effort, given enough prior notice, to make this event but 5,000 miles is one heck of a lot of miles in one fell swoop to swallow. We might pick up more out of the west coast...perhaps even...

    Hats Off to *89x2*

90Callaway: Please share details of the ZR1 article and the tips to keep the car running great. BTW...I found out this weekend altitude makes a real difference in aspiration--even the TT. We were at 6000 ft or so at W. Yellowstone this weekend and I could barely squeak out 44" of mercury at...

    Hats Off to *89x2*

Please, please...include me on this distribution. It makes me sick to think I couldn't make the event. On the flip side, my wife and I scored a 1st in class trophy and BOTH raffle items--a nice quilt and a GM letterman C5 jacket while in W. Yellowstone. I can't complain too much.

    1990 Battery drain

You could also try pulling ALL the fuses possible that will leave the car in running condition. If the drain continues you at least know it's something that isn't going through the fuse box. If the drain stops, add fuses one by one until it starts again.

    Boost increase on 87?

Someone asked me at a show the other day if I had T3 or T4 turbos. I didn't know. Are mine T3 or is that a Rotomaster designation? BTW...when I contacted Callaway about the overboost problem Reeves told me to adjust the length of the control rod to reduce it but until then I should control...

    Boost increase on 87?

Does the '87 have IHI turbos? I don't know that answer but I do know that my '87 boost is adjustable by turning the nut on the wastegate control rod. I did it when one wastegate went out and I had way to much boost. I lowered the overall boost but was basically running on one turbo. Had the...

BOOST PROBLEM CURED, thanks for everyone's help

Ok...that makes more sense. For sure I'll file this tidbit for future reference. Glad it's working again. I know what it's like to lose the turbo power. NOT a happy feeling!

BOOST PROBLEM CURED, thanks for everyone's help

I read the stuff below at the Callaway website when I saw your post. I got to this part about the Microfueler--"With the exception of relying on the fuel pump for pressure and the tach connection on the distributor for engine rpm it is 100% independent of the car's engine control system" and...

Help, what's happened to my boost???!!!

Wastegate failure can lead to both overboost and no boost. Overboost is more common. That's directly off the Callaway website. I don't think the Microfueler is an issue here. It uses manifold pressure and RPMS to determine when to fire the extra fuel injectors in the ram's horn. I don't think...

    Callaway Reunion@C'Vettes@Carlisle>deadlines info.Don't Miss Out!w/in>

Sorry I'll miss it. We'll make a real effort to make the next one. I met someone in Boise at Vette Fest 2002 who will be at Carlisle, perhaps you will see them. They are from Florida and will be trailering in a maroon replica GS speedster. You can't miss it. I think they are putting 10,000...

Need opinions on brake pads to use

I've heard (I think) that the silicon based fluid is more prone to water retention. Is that true? I live in a rainy location... :D

Need opinions on brake pads to use

I have never felt my brakes were that good and am considering upgrading them. It's a tough question what to do since I don't want to detract from the collectability of the car. A friend has recommended (and I've seen this elsewhere too) that before I do any pricey upgrades I should completely...
