Hi John,
That is a stellar job you are doing on that floor. I can't wait to see more updates as the project continues to progress.
I noticed that you cut the sides of the floor all the way back to the rear bulkhead and beveled the filler floor panel patch. Is this required to allow clearance...
Thanks Gary:D
My wife is the mastermind that created the site. She is not only good at web design, she can also spin wrenches, strip paint, do body work and powershift too! She is a keeper.
Thanks for the compliments.
Gary,
I congratulate you on your beautiful workmanship and all the heart that you poured into your '61. I fully understand the the college tuition issue, and rolled the proceeds from many of my projects into the family fund.
As many others have stated on here, there are other cars and...
Ray,
That is a real slick puller that have created!
Do you have a pic of the puller "broken down" to show all the components?
Having had to wrestle pivots off in the past, I can see where this would be very helpful.
Take care,
Brian
Barry,
Glad you got it all sorted out. The best part of working on these cars is the test drive, especially when you are able to do it at this time of the year. This is such a mild winter.
Unfortunately, since I went to the Detroit Auto Show yesterday, I have too much work at the office to...
Ray,
My favorite snadpaper is 1500 wet, with lots of water. If you get a particularly "rough" area then 1200 works fine to smooth it out. I always use the paper wrapped around a rubber block to keep it smooth.
Have fun!
Brian
Hi Ray,
Thanks for the invitation it is very tempting. However life is currently keeping me hopping. Besides, I might start having too much fun and not want to leave:D
How long will you let the paint cure before you start to wet sand and buff it? I used to give all my lacquer jobs between...
The belt line always looks great even with some of nature's accents:D
You folks have taken some great shots of the lines of these cars that make everyone's heart beat faster.
My other favorite is the rear roof line of a '63 to '67 coupe in subtle lighting.
Take care,
Brian
Ray,
That is great looking. Gheez, you sure work fast!
Makes me want to start a project........'scuse me, I have to go lay down until this passes:D
Take care,
Brian
Firstgear,
You are just getting to the "fun" part. I always feel that the project is just getting up to speed when the body comes off.
Keep posting those pics for all us garage junkies without a project at this time:D
Brian G,
That looks great! What type of trans and rear end are you using?
Post lots of pics as your project progresses. We all love to share in your excitement here.
Love those early vettes:cool
Rspivey,
Welcome to the CAC. There are a lot of great folks on this site and a wealth of knowledge available at your keyboard.:cool
Do you belong to a Corvette club? Do they have any members that are very knowledgeable?
Failing that, you should try to contact the Michigan NCRS...
Chuck is 100% correct. The original off road option was for the 3 baffle mufflers instead of the quieter stockers. The Off Road mufflers have a nice sound without being obnoxious.
The only chambered pipe application on midyear vettes was the side exhausts.
The General did offer a chambered...
Hi Ray,
The body looks fantastic.
Will you be spraying the primer with the body on the car or will you litf the body off to start the paint process?
Happy New Year, welcome to 2006!
Take care,
Brian
It is very hard to tell in the photo if the chambers have been "cut" to unshroud the intakes.
Yes, if these heads were originally equipped with 2.02" intakes the chambers would have been cut just as is shown in John's photo.
Take care,
Brian
John is 100% right as usual.
There is a very good possibilty that since the heads have also had the bowls blended, that the shop that did them might have been smart enough to un-shroud the intakes while they were doing the conversion.
Try and get a couple of digital shot of the chambers...
It certainly does look like a hefty frame. It would not be high on my list to invest in though. With the ultra modern C5 front suspension and the somewhat dated rear suspension solid axle (I ran a triangualeted 4 bar rear in my chopped '32 F*rd coupe over 20 years ago), it lends itself more to...
