well, gas leak is fixed, timing and carb adjustments are set. They may need some tweaking still but I think they are at good starting points anyway.
It's a beautiful day, it stopped raining and the roads are dry so I'm going for a short test spin in BABY!!


it's been over two months since she has left her spot in the garage, she is purring smoothly as a kitten (well, maybe a baby tiger cub) and she wants to go as much as I do I think so wish me luck.......

I was just about to send you a PM to say that you would be CRAZY if you didn't get that car out today ! Had mine out earlier in the week, but it was still quite wet out this morning when I left for work. Wish I could blow off the rest of the day and go cruisin', but you have to pay for these things some way or the other !

How'd you get the gas leaks fixed ? Apparently nothing serious. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for NO LEAKS !

nope, NO LEAKS!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!

I did what i told you last night I was going to do. I took off the fuel filter and fittings, cleaned up the threads, put on a wrapping on both sides of plumbers tape as an added precaution and carefully put it all back making sure all the fitting seated properly. No gas leaks anymore

I wonder if I have an exhaust leak though. The sound out of the drivers side exhaust pipe is very different than it used to be and it sounds kinda "flappy" is the best way I can think to describe it. it seems to be that way at all RPM's but i can especially hear it when I accelerate.
not sure how to check if an exhaust leak could be the reason or what else could be causing it.
I couldn't tell if I get the same sound out of the passenger side pipe as well as when i'm driving I can't hear a damn thing over the sound of the drivers side pipe.
Other than that she seemed to run just fine and the best news is NO LEAKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow, it felt so great to have her out driving again even if it was only a short test drive. I went down Northstar to Papermill, took Papermill to RT 7 up to Brackenville Rd, tuned down there to Northstar again by the dairy and back home. Only a couple miles but that's all i needed for now.

Glad you got it all sorted out. The best part of working on these cars is the test drive, especially when you are able to do it at this time of the year. This is such a mild winter.

Unfortunately, since I went to the Detroit Auto Show yesterday, I have too much work at the office to even think of making an excuse to go home and drive my vette.

Well, at least the work around the office is Corvette related

I know you are not originally from Newark, but since you mentioned Paper Mill Road, do you know what part of Paper Mill was know as the "Flats" and what the "Flats" were famous for? If not, ask a local native car guy.

The site of the majority of the street drag racing in the Newark/ Stanton area in the 60's and 70's.
The actual "Flats" started at a bridge at the bottom of the hill (on Paper Mill), about .3 mile from the intersection of Limestone Rd (rt. 7) and Paper Mill. I am not sure that bridge is still there today. They ended at the bridge just before North Star Road; I think that bridge is still there. The distance between the two bridges was very close to 1/4 mile. That section of Paper Mill was called the Flats because that is what it was, flat (well it did have one slight rise in it) and 1/4 mile between the bridges.
Back then, that area was still all farmland and both Limestone and Paper Mill were two lane. Pretty deserted after 10:00pm so just right for racing. Of course you had to check out things first to assure the State Troopers were not lurking around, waiting to catch racers.
I will not admit to having been a party in any illegal races at the Flats, but I know a lot of people who did race! I will admit to observing, and saw plenty of mid years go through the Flats. And I know a few who got caught by the DSP.
My Grandparents and later my family lived about 3 miles from the Flats on Doe Run Road in Corner Ketch. My brother still lives there.

cool, thanks for the local past history lesson Mike.
nope the bridge right off of RT7 on Papermill is not there.
there is also a school now on Papermill just before Northstar so they don't tolerate too much speeding in this area. also, they LOVE to set up radar traps on Northstar RD in two different places and I got snagged a few weeks ago. I see the traps there all the time so I should have known better by I wasn't paying attention so got a ticket.
The entrace to my development is right on Northstar Rd.

If you still have family up here and ever come to visit let me know and you can stop by.
BTW, I used to come down to NC about every 6-8 weeks for business but not anymore.
