    Transmission Replacement

I went through a couple 700r4's. The last one I broke was supposed to be the strongest parts you can get. I converted to a th400/Gear Vendors last year. This is the only way to go if you have some extra horsepower. It was not very difficult to do, I have a page on my web site that shows a...

1988 Convertible Callaway Twin Turbo 4 sale

Just a note for those interested. I put a th400/Gear Vendors combo in my car last year. It is about the strongest tranny you could put in your car, I'm told anyhow. It works great for autocrossing too. I thought I remember hearing that this option on a B2K was higher than $4500 tho. Maybe I...

    Bally Pinball machine>Callaway w/in>

I bought one a bit ago to add to my pin collection. It is a fun game. I would say a must have for any Vette enthusiast. Keep checking Ebay. There was one there recently with a buy it now of about 2100. Pin's just keep going up in value so buy one soon. I have 5 and they are all worth more...

    Gear Vendors overdrive

I think they would have the adapter fittings to attach it to your 4 speed. They do say you have to push in the clutch when activating/deactivating the Gear Vendors when it is attached to a manual tranny. I guess it is because when you push the button to engage it it hits pretty hard and locks...

    Gear Vendors overdrive

I have a th400 with a Gear Vendors unit. The th400 is a 3 speed auto unit, just in case you didn't know. I love my setup very much, no not that much. I don't know how much of an advantage it would be for your 4 speed tho. In practical driving use I don't think you would be splitting all your...

    Can a 4L60E be built to stand up to a 396 LT1?

Another very happy th400/Gear Vendors conversion here! I did this last winter to my car and love every minute of it. I went through 2 700r4's. One was supposedly "bullet proof, easily handle 600h/p." Ha. Go the th400/GV and you will always be smiling.

    removing the ac compressor..forever!!

If you lived in MN the A/C wouldn't mean so much to you. Besides, this is primarily a toy/race car for me. The sole purpose of my car is to go fast and have fun. I had to take the a/c out so I could fit a huge radiator in. I would like to have another Vette for cruising but won't be able to for...

Anyone running dual pcv valves on a TPIS miniram???

I guess that sounds like it might be a possibility. I know that under low rpm's there is a small amount of vacume created by the header air tubes. I guess I have never checked to see what happens under high rpm's tho. That might be a good thing to check out. I do know that my plugs always look...

Anyone running dual pcv valves on a TPIS miniram???

You can kind of see it in this shot I think.

    removing the ac compressor..forever!!

Oh ya, you do need to keep that half moon bracket that the compressor used to mount to because that is what the tensioner mounts to.

    removing the ac compressor..forever!!

It's very easy to get rid of the a/c. Here's what I did. Just get all the junk out of there. Then, cut your serpentine belt. Now wrap the belt around everything just the way it is supposed to go, except go around the tensioner the other way. Now pull the belt tight and make a line on the one...

Anyone running dual pcv valves on a TPIS miniram???

I have Hooker 2149 headers with the air tube hookups. I put the one way valves on those and run direct hose from the valve cover to the header air tube on each side. Works very good for me. You want to have a bit of vacume applied to your valve covers to get the contamination out of the gases in...

    TH400 to 700-R4 Trans Swap

Wayne The Gear Vendors setup for a C4 is a little bit more than a C3 because it has the fittings for the torque arm. I would think the install would be easier in a C3 also. I bought my tranny from a shop in Delaware for $1400 with the torque converter. My parts total was about $4000. But...

    LT4 Miniram and a lt4 hot cam.

Which was first? Hay all. Look at the e-mail I got from Mr. Myron Cotrell: THE MINI-RAM WAS SHOWN FOR THE FIRST TIME AT THE 1990 SEMA SHOW IN 1989 ON THE WAY BACK FROM THE PEBBLE BEACH CAR SHOW I JUST HAPPENED TO BE ON THE SAME PLANE WITH ZORA DUNTOV. I WAS SEATED NEXT TO HIM. I SHOWED HIM A...

    TH400 to 700-R4 Trans Swap

Gear Vendors I put a th400 manual valve body/Gear Vendors in my '86 last winter. I drove all summer with it. It is awsum! I like it very much. I never use the auto feature of the overdrive electronics. I think what that does is just engage the od unit at about 45-50 mph, no matter what gear...

    LT4 Miniram and a lt4 hot cam.

Point TNT, I think Myron Cotrell would say that the LT1 is a "virtual" copy of his mini-ram, hahahahah. Who came out with it first? Anybody know? I'll call TPIS tomorrow and ask them.

    secret vin number locations

There are secret locations for vin's on cars. They are kept secret by the manufacturer and only given to the police as needed. This is done for a very good reason. It allows the police to track down stolens that have been re-vin'd. If anybody does know of a secret vin location I would think you...

    Replacing auto trans with 6spd?

I have another suggestion. Do what I did. I converted to a TH400/Gear Vendors overdrive combo. I had my th400 built with a fully manual forward pattern valve body with engine braking. I put in a B&M Megashifter. I put on the t-handle with the little push button on the side to push with your...

    Wire Routing

I ran some through the spot that would normally have the clutch hardware if my car had been a manual. There is a pretty good spot there. If you have a manual I would think you could easily drill a new hole near there and run what you need. Good luck.
