I guess I chose the easy way out on the temp gauge problem. I'm not too sure that these old gauges were very accurate even when new. At least now I know it is correct at my "critical" (180) temperature.
I took a quick look at your web site and I know you have certainly put a lot of...
Several years ago I took my multi meter down to the local Autozone and asked the counter guy to bring me all the Wells temp senders that he had in stock. They all checked within a few ohms of each other so I took one to put on my 62. The temp gauge was still off by about 20° so I added a...
How does the Imperial-Eastman universal tool work on stainless lines?
Anyone familiar with the Mastercool 71475 universal flaring tool? From the pictures and descriptions I have found it looks exactly like the one Eastwood sells.

The first time I lifted the body off my '59 I used a 2 post lift and just swung the arms out over the lifting points and attached straps/chains. After I got the body off I tried rolling my rotisserie under it and discovered that I needed to raise it about another 6" higher than the lift would...
Hey, that is exactly the reason I chose the radio I put into my wife's 62. Only fawn beige radio I've ever seen. Unfortunately it died after about 18 months and, of course, they do not make it anymore.

Now that I have one in my new shop I use a two post lift. Before that I used a chain hoist with straps or lengths of chain attached to the body. The mechanical lift (as opposed to a "human" lift) gives you more precise control of everything.

I had almost exactly the same thing happen to an auxilary fuse panel. The terminal connection was riveted together and I guess the rivet was not tight enough. Only difference was that my failure was on the main power fuse and it happened in downtown Shippensburg, PA, and it was...
Taken from the pages of the ST-12:
Proper fluid level must be maintained in the hydraulic system to insure proper operation of the top mechanism
Operate the top to its raised position.
Disconnect the positive battery cable.
Remove the fiber panel shielding the top mechanism in...

Do you now have a hose from the top of the radiator to the expansion tank? If so, try removing this hose from the expansion tank, raise the end of the hose above the top of the expansion tank (obviously) and try filling the radiator through the hose. See if the water level in the...
Larry:
Not sure if I completely understand your cooling system problem, but I would think that an additional line from the radiator to the expansion tank would be necessary. Do you have a temp sensor somewhere in your system to turn the fan on and off?

I am currently building a '59 with a big block. Here is a link to some pictures: http://www.carols62.com/59
I think you will find that it is just about impossible to fit a big block, headers, stock suspension and steering in a stock C1 frame. I would suggest that you go with one of the...

I'm using all new wiring. The harness I'm using is by "E-Z Wiring". The fuse block is really small (about 4" x 2") and the flashers are separate so you can mount them just about anywhere under the dash.

Thanks for the information. After looking everywhere in the shop yesterday I found my instruction sheet this morning hidden away in my receipts folder in my office.

Started wiring the '59 today and cannot find the wiring diagram for the Ididit steering column, the one they make for C1's. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this column that they might email to me? Or just the connection descriptions for the wires which are colored white, green, yellow...
My wife and I have driven her '62 from NC to Orlando once, Carlisle four times, and to Rochester NY once. Planning a trip out west one of these days.

Two of the things that lessen performance on carbed engines are hot intake air and underhood turbulence around the carb intake. Why not add an additional layer under the "bulge", on the same level as the base of the air cleaner, so that you have a sealed pocket that the air cleaner can...
Larry:
I like the design of your hood. I am assuming that you used a stock hood and just raised the section between the two "pods" on each side of the hood. I was thinking of doing something similar on my car but with a forward facing opening. How high did you have to raise the hood in the...
Larry:
Good information to know. I hope I can keep the weight of my 59 under 3000. Did you scale each corner individually or all four corners at the same time?
