1996 HVAC blows randomly through vents

Could you have possibly pinched, restricted or broken the vacuum hose(under the hood) that supplies the vacuum to actuate the various HVAC components, air routing doors etc. Otherwise, check to see if its storing any codes in the HVAC system. "Sometimes" when it stores a code the A/C(or...

Help! I think I fried something

Last night my son-in-law and I went for a cruise in my '90 C4. Tonight when I went to open the door and disabled the VATS system I noticed the in door courtesy lights did NOT come on. Somehow the interior light switch that circumferences the headlight switch was in the ON position. The...

    High Voltage Spark

The OEM GM AC/Delco is very good quality and will work just fine. They work great on my mildly modified '90 C4. I once used a cheap rotor because I couldn't readily get a Delco and within a couple weeks the engine developed a slight miss. I opened up the cap and found the spark had burned...

New Motor break In ASAP HELP

If you have no timing marks to go by, How are you determining TDC on the compression stroke.? You can't guess at this. The engine makes 2 complete revolutions for 1 combustion cycle. Each piston goes up and down 4 times. Thus a 4 cycle engine. The 4 cycles(or sequences) are intake...

New Motor break In ASAP HELP

DEFINITELY, check timing and be SURE firing order and distributor rotation(clockwise) is correct. Firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. #1 cylinder is the front left on the engine and should correspond to the plug wire on the cap pointing toward #1 cylinder. The rotor also must be...

    Crazy Tach!

Good Luck G! If you get stuck, shoot me a PM and I'll help you out if I can. Also, something to consider while the dash is out...If you have the Delco GM-Bose system, they CAN be very temperamental and DIE suddenly.....There have been a ton of posts on it. As a matter of fact; Tomorrow...

    Horrific oil leak cured!!!

Glad you found it. When I rebuilt my L98 last year, I made it a priority to reseal that Cluster f*ck of fittings because it's a bear to get to and nothing smells worst than BBQ'd oil. Congrats.

    Crazy Tach!

Here's the link to another forums' post. There are some good pictures. I will also post mine. 94 Vette Tachometer Problems - Corvette Forum Here are mine I kept as a record. Note: Be sure replacement resistor(s) total 300k or very close to it. The second picture is my arrangement...

    Crazy Tach!

I have a '90 coupe and had the same issue with the tach. I replaced the tach filter with a replacement from Corvette Central. It is a "bear" to change and in my case did NOT fix the problem. But it's a chance. More than likely.... You have to fix the circuit board behind the tach...

    Fuel pump issue

First of all,....I don't know if it applies to 86's, but something you said intrigued me. You said, "When I turn on the ignition or crank it, I'll get voltage for 2 seconds." Does your Vette have the oil pressure lock out switch at the sender behind the base of the distributor???? My '90 has...

Question: 1984 Weather stripping and door panel insulation

GM hasn't made these parts in a long time. Strictly aftermarket(licensed GM reproductions). Here's what I bought and installed on my '90. They fit and look great. Plus they DO what they are supposed to do. KEEP THE WATER(and air) out. The price is right and the quality is better than...

    Help! Clutch

Just be sure you get the correct flywheel and clutch arrangement. I remember hearing somewhere here that certain models had 2 piece flywheels. Not sure if it applies to yours, but better safe than sorry. Rock Auto and Jeggs both have good customer support, so they would know. But...

How about anouther engine temperture thread?

I'm not familiar with the 4-3 overdrive, but; What bearing does engine temperature have to do with the overdrive engaging or dis-engaging? Isn't it a purely mechanical engagement(not computer controlled?) Maybe another member with this experience could "chime in." Although seeing that there...

How about anouther engine temperture thread?

As Doug eluded to, the first thing to check is that you are getting good air flow through the radiator. C4's are known to get leaves and debris in between the radiator and the A/C condenser. You can't see it from underneath. These are like vacuum cleaners. They suck all kinds of stuff up in...

    front suspension shimmy

If the front end is correct,..I'd check tire run-out/balance and/or wheel bearings. Get the front off the ground and manually spin the tires. Does the tire tread track true? Bearings noisy? While driving,..Does the shimmy decrease or increase when applying brakes? Or is it there all the...

Question: Restore Plastic Emblems on front and rear of 92 C4 Corvette?

i was looking in their catalog which has older prices. Check ebay too. They may have reproductions, whether they are Genuine GM or not????? Also contemporarycorvette.com has emblem reproductions too. I don't know if the '92s are the same as the '90s but they have a set for $89. Here's...
