I used the first link (above) for Intercity transport Inc. Abby came in an Enclosed trailer and the husband wife team were fantastic people :thumb It cost $1,391.00 from New Hampshire to Amarillo ;)

If you have a lot of smoke coming out of the exhaust (tail pipe) at start up that if fouling the air :D then your thought of a Carb problem may indeed be what is happening. Years ago my Choke would stick or the carb would act like it was flooded...
Here is the manual number Bill is referring to: GM 1981 Shop Manual ST-364-81... Also the purchase an Assembly Manual. Both are needed if you plan to work on your '81 or learn more about it. ;)

The first thing I would do is LOOK at the Trim Tag and see what it has to offer.. ;) If it was a non-standard paint it should indicate that.
On the L81VetteRegistry we documented ONE "PRIMER" factory 1981 Corvette. It was dealer painted in Arizona. We varified this Trim Tag and...
Contact local or regional TV Station with your information, sometimes they jump on something like this like a pit bull on ham bone...
Contact a Station near you, then one near where the Car is ;) If that don't work contact News Papers with the information...

I was not aware of a Anti-Theft device on the 1980 Corvette ;shrug ... I thought it was introduced on the 1981 Model year??? (that would be the ignition disable) Hmmm time to pause, reflect and get my @!#$ together :D

Until GM establishes the "Target" consumer they might as well be spitting in the wind.. GM needs to put a PLAN together and ATTACK the "Target" audience with commercials that make sense...
I hope the young'ns bring back the "Wet T-Shirt" contests, beer chugging relay, Norwegian Ski races, Beer Keg Toss, and other fun kahana's that made all those younger years SO MUCH FUN :dance ..
