You have to make sure the post that attach to the roof are sitting square on the little cups provided on the floor, then as the roof panel lays against the back end attach the latches and slightly lift up on the panel to secure it to the latches.

In the rear of the trunk there are two latches that secure the roof panel when it is stored and they should have rubber tips on the end of them.

IMHO Pontiac has always had cheesy interiors so I really hope this isn't the case with the C6. Pontiacs have been know to have more plastic than fischer price. :nono
