    horn mishap!

I think I have a spare metal contact. You need the part held on by the speed nuts, right? Its good, plastic part of the plate is bad. You can have it, PM me if you want it, and I'll check after work. Joe

Did GM give my 85 free Blisteen shocks?

Come to think of it, I think the early Z-51 cars had Bilstein HD shocks. They should say so on the shocks. Hope this helps some. It's still too cold here for me to go take a look!

Did GM give my 85 free Blisteen shocks?

Didn't they all come with Bilsteins, just different /stiffer performance Bilsteins with Z51 cars?:confused I know later C4's had base Delco-Bilsteins, (FE1), on non-Z-51 cars.

    86 tailights

They sound like stock lenses. (no screws) I have heard about guys having major problems with these, and some other (like me) just a minor hassle. I can reach mine up through the quarter panels, and the harness will drop down "just" far enough to twist a new bulb in. However, its all a blind...

    700r4 auto or a 4+3 manual?

Some guys will say they don't like the 4+3, an equal amount will say they do. However, this much is true: The OD unit is reliable if treated well on the road, and regularly serviced. You will have the D44 rear with a stickshift, which is WAY stronger than an automatics D36. If I hadn't...

    IS THIS A REAL 1981 ????

    Or an Avanti:ugh

    My 85 won't start

Just some unsubstantiated advice here, but give it some time. run the car a little. When I unpllugged the MAF and other sensors in the TB area when the plenum was off, and then reassembled, idle was all over the place, without throwing a code. Then things "literally" smoothed out. Maybe...

    Shift knob

Yep that's it. Make sure that the tips on your snap ring pliers are good and tight, I lost one down in the shifter taking the snap ring out:W :rotfl . Also, I found mine was easier to do when I dropped the shifter into low. You get a better look inside. Joe:w

    Found the howl!

Try Rock Auto for these parts, or maybe even NAPA. This is the one chain that sometimes pleasantly surprises me on parts cost, and I feel comfortable with the quality.

Corvette to sport Chevy's gold bow-tie?

No it not just you. I have thought the same thing for a while now. Look at the Camaros, Mustangs, Chargers of the late 60's....beautiful cars. Then, they got big and bulky by '71 amd design went downhill. (especially the mustangs and chargers of 71,72 and 73.)

    My 85 won't start

I agree, 12lbs is way too low.

    My 85 won't start

Sounds like a fuel issue if it sputters, so I am assuming spark is OK. Turn the key just to on and listen for the fuel pump. If you don't have a guage, depress the shrader valve on the fuel rail to see if you have pressure Check fuses On your ALDL, one of the pins (not sure which one...

    carpet questions - 90 covertible

If I could do it again, I'd buy the mass back. I saved a few bucks and went with the poly, but when it arrived I found it was much lighter, and there certainly is much more road and exhaust noise in the cabin. I actually discovered that my cat was rattling...something I hadn't heard before...

    Noise when accelerating

My vote goes for a motor mount, but I haven't heard of them being a bad problem on these cars...so how about the c beam?

    WTB cosmetic items (interior)

I have a used shift knob that the front stitching is frayed on. (My fault, once it started, I couldn't stop messing with it while I was driving:D ). It's just OK, not great. Free to ya if you need one for a driver.:beer Joe

    Balancing Exhaust

Thats a good question. I'd go with an X pipe. What do you mean by a balance nearer the mufflers? An H behind the dana? Not sure if that can be done. BTW, if you just got a new dual exhaust, why do you want to go back in there??? Is it a true dual, or a catback?

Dodge already calling out GM for 2008

You couldn't be any more correct. Not to hijack, but the Dodge TRUCK guys are the most guilty of this. :bash

    88 Seats

Yea Tom, I am about 4-5 hours away from NYC if you went out 80 to 380 to US 6: I'd guess about the same by Rte 17 all the way up but not familiar with that route. Joe

    88 Seats

Muddywaters, I got to talk to the upholsterer today. The seats he did up for my friend were not leather, but soft-side naugehyde. Material, including new foam, and labor was around $350. Granted, thats not leather, but they looked very good I thought that was a hellova price. And, he has...
