    A/C O-ring question; 85; making me nuts!

Thanks redvett. If that end takes an o-ring, I'll have to investigate the pipe itself further. Unfortunately, I did not pay attention to the fitting on the drier when I unscrewed it and didn't see if it still had the o-ring on the pipe or not.:confused Compressor siezed up last fall, and...

    A/C O-ring question; 85; making me nuts!

Hopefully a simple one, guys.... I replaced the drier this weekend, and am recharging the system. Have lost 3 cans of 134 due to a major leak out of the hose/pipe fitting coming out of the drier going toward the firewall. Fitting on the drier is tight, not cross threaded, and doesn't appear...

Quality on DD and Miles on the Vette

The finish on my 96 Monte Carlo, daily driver, is very good at 249,000 miles. Also, the car still has the original mufflers/pipes; hoses, and water pump. Battery and starter changed last fall for THE FIRST time, and the alt went out 1 1/2 years ago at 211,000. GM puts out a quality vehicle...

    Old seat cover for pattern

Mike, do you have any decent used interior small stuff laying around?? I'm constantly trying to fix the problems 20 years of Texas heat did to my interior before I bought it. Joe 570-888-8974

    Old seat cover for pattern

I have a worn and torn leather seat from my 85; not sport seats. It is still attached to the foam; I believe it could be used as a pattern if you could take it apart.

    C4 'Vert Icons

I was just browsing CF, and evidently this is true. Someone met Gordon Killibrew at this years Cruise In, and asked the same question. These icons are located on verts under the rear carpet, and an American flag is in the fiberglass under the decklid. :cool

    Quick ? About GEARS

Look at your RPO codes under the rear box lid behind the seat. On my 85, code G44 indicates a 3.07, which was an optional gear for the automatics. I think the 2.59's were GM1 or something like that. Willing to bet that the 84 codes for the rears are the same as 85. Of course this is assuming...

old meets new- opinions on emblem

You bet! You can lose points if things like your belts, hoses, etc aren't correctly dated. Someone here a while ago was looking for a #52 oil filter; coulnd't be blue even, had to be black. A friend of mine lost a point or two on his midyear a few hears ago because the door handles were...

Torn Grease Seal - Outer tie rod

I am interested in this, too! Hopefully someone knows where the boots can be bought. My suspension is tight, but I hate to wonder about how much grease is beig held in there. I've been thinking about just changing 'em out, but if I can find the boots for a few dollars, I would go that route...

old meets new- opinions on emblem

I like it very much! In fact I have always preferred the crossed flag emblems...from old Impalas to Vettes. Looks a lot better than the soo eighties GM stock emblem.

    what engine to buy

I guess it's all about your budget, but how about a crate engine? Jegs has several small block options that are reasonable.

    C4 mpg help

Yeah, you're right. Plugs new, throttle body cleaned, new AF this winter. But I have not changed out any distributor parts. Bought the car March '05 and have done alot of PM since. For the cost, I should do this. Maybe new O2 sensor as well now that I'm thinking about it. Appreciate the...
