Thanks. The rims that were on the car when I bought it are ARE's. They were 16x8.5. They weren't the proper offset either. They were rusted up and had a couple center caps missing. Of course the caps aren't available any more. I'm really happy with the 17x9.5/17x11's that are on there now...
Thanks. I bought the lowering kit from Mid-America
Yeah. Lowering the back is snap. Truthfully, if I had known what was involved with lowering the front I may have reconsidered that decision. But, having done it once, it may not be so bad to ever do it again.
I also have pictures of the start to finish process. I don't have them in digital format yet so I'll post them up as soon as I get them processed.:beer
I just had mine painted for about $3500. I found a good body/paint man that does side work. Since it's not a daily driver he could have the car for a month to work on it in his free(?) time. The results were worth it. BTW: He said the paint was almost $500/gal. :W
Just got mine out of the paint shop last week. Big improvement over the 20 y/o paint that was on there.
Here's what the car looked like 4 years ago when i got her.
Here she is now!! :beer
I following the oiling instructions to a T. Then I let the filter sit for 24 hrs before reinstalling to allow any possible excess oil to drip off. I've never experienced a problem.
If you look at the 60' times. It appears the LT1 wasn't hooking up very well. The LT also had a higher trap speed, so it must have been making more hp. Just couldn't get it to the pavement.
With my '88, you just disconnect the battery for 10-15 seconds. I don't know if that works on the LT1. You can take it to some place like Autozone. They can put their scanner on it and clear any codes.
I'm not sure how you're friend can "feel" a horsepower number, but you will lose some horsepower from the motor through the drivetrain to rear wheels. With a 6 speed it won't be as much as an auto. but it might be as much as 30 HP.
