I searched but couldn't find anything...
1998, hood open. looking from the front there are two bumper stop screws that set the hood height. There should be a rubber top to them. My Dad said they basically cracked off. He couldn't get them at the dealer.
Anyone know a place to buy them...
I'm borrowing my Dad's 1998 Pace Car for a couple of weeks. I thought I'd take a bit of time to fix a few minor issues on the car.
The shifter is kind of sticky getting it out of Park. Sometimes it is worse than others. It has not to this point ever been totally stuck.
Anything I can look...
a general rule of thumb after that kind of work is to disconnect the battery to let the computer reset. This way it starts off with a clean slate.
Considering the carbon buildup you have I would also put 2 bottles of Techron in your tank when you fill up. Run that tank down and check the oil...
I'll even go a step farther and say it's even color specific. If you find a 'vert that is 6 speed chances are it's black or red (you'll find that a good number of triple black cars are 6 speed).
Certain colors are far more prone to autos. For example, take a look at the 1990 - 1991 turquoise...
the only exception is 1996 as the LT4/6 speed package skewed the numbers some.
For fun, take a look at eBay or another sales site... try to find a C4 convertible / manual tranny. You'll only find a couple
You really can't extrapolate the options like that because people don't order them like that.
This is a perfect example. there is a higher than average number of hardtops on ruby cars because the ruby was a top of the line car as it was (sport seats, etc.). if you wanted all the options...
The new ZR1 is awesome. I've been very vocal for years about the overall blah that the Corvette has become.... until now. GM finally found the set of balls they misplaced however many years ago and built a car that people will lust over for decades to come. Now I just have to go through my...
It can. But, it does because things are not equal...
The average buyer of a new Corvette is different than the average buyer of a used one. This is what has made the value of things like 6-Speed manual more valuable in the used market. The younger demographic in the used market wants a...
There is a big difference in "rare" and "desirable"
If you order a stripped down corvette (there are plenty of them built anyway, because dealers like to use them as loss leaders) even if it is rare, it isn't desirable.
The best is desirable and rare...
Check out the grand sport registry, they sell GS style stripe kits (decals) for under $250. They have many colors available.
It may be worth it to buy and install them on your car now as a trial to see if you like the look and want them painted on later.
The price seems fair to me. The miles are really good, but the paint will cost big $$ to fix right. The yellow '86 Pace cars are the ones that collectors want...
did both fans used to work? I thought they are both supposed to run with the A/C on for some reason.
To test to see if the fans are wired up properly, you can get both fans to run by scanning the computer. If you don't have the little box that plugs in under the dash (or instructions on how...
MAF systems are more adjustable on the fly. Basically, the computer generally has a greater ability to adjust for changes.
SD are simpler, because of all the emissions laws these are basically gone... they are just not precise enough
Better / Worse depends on what you are looking for. I...
Car manufacturers have to pay for each engine/tranny combination to be federally certified before they are sold.
So, they probably figured that the increase in sales by offering auto and stick would not compensate for the additional certification and engineering costs.
This is the same reason...
Is that a cutout, or is it covered with glass? The pics are blurry, but it looks like there is a glare in the cutout on the left bottom part of it like it is clear...
Coupes also have the switches in the doors for the rear hatch, and they are exactly the same as the convertible switches. At some point in time, chevy stopped putting them on both doors for coupes, but back in 88 they were on both doors.
The cross member means little, you can add one to a...
Intake manifolds are not an area that contain positive pressure on naturally aspirated cars. The oil that leaks from them usually just seeps out. If there were that much pressure 'forcing' the oil out, the oil would shoot out the intake.
If I remember correctly, the PCV valve is on top of the...
Looks good. The only thing I don't like about painting the consoles on these cars is the cutout area at the top where the buttons are for the trip/gauges/etc. It makes things look a bit off since they are black, but you can't do anything to fix that.
