    Keys getting lock inside car

Could it be the little resistor in the key itself is not making contact. The ignition is worn out? I've be working on interior sometimes, and i'll leave the key near the shifter or on the little shelf by the speedometer with the doors open. Doesnt seem to lock then. But does it know the doors...

    Keys getting lock inside car

I found recently, that while getting gas and doing minor interior work, my car would lock with the key still in the ignition (not on). Now everytime i get gas in the rain, zero degrees, etc, i roll the window down first. This just happened again on sunday. I replaced the batteries in the fob a...

    Rear Defroster not working

And so this continues... i checked grounds all looked ok, no corrosion, not loose, etc. I unwrapped the bundle of wires that run along the passanger side rocker panel. There was about 15-20 wires in there and did not see any broken. I did find a repair on a green wire that my mechanic had done...

    Rear Defroster not working

Power at the relay! Ok. Took out the relay and found ~12 V at the connector. Jumped the in/out (power from battery #30 and to the power to defroster #87). Still nothing at the rear struts. There is a bundle of wires wrapped up under the rocker panel along the passenger seat, then some wires...

    Rear Defroster not working

Thanks for the info. This is killing me because its been bitterly cold and icy almost non stop in NJ. I have been ready to try this for weeks. The weekend is coming up and should be in the 50s. So i'll try to locate the problem. I have found that my outside mirrors defrost. Does this help...

    Rear Defroster not working

I read threw and tried everything from the previous threads and i'm still not getting any voltage back to my rear window defroster struts. All my refroster lines are intacted and tested with my multimeter by resistance. I replaced the relay and did not do anything. (1996 relay is to the...

    Rearwindow Defroster

I know this is an OLD post, my rear window defroster doesnt work. I've gotten down to the relay(?). I can hear it click when i press the defroster button. But i'm not getting any power to the grid via the connectors at the bottom of the window. The fuse is good. I see no breaks in the lines of...

Fuel Info, Eng/Met, not lighting up

Related question I noticed on the left side of the dash, that only the head lights switch icon and dial are illuminated, not the traction control button icon nor the one for the parking lights. Are these supposed to be lit or not? (The light that tells me the parking lights are on works fine)...

Problem with Light in Bose Radio

I just repaired this over the weekend. :upthumbs My orange backlight screen was also out in the radio. So i'd like to share my experience. 96 LT4. Once out of the car, I took my entire radio apart. Lots of little screws. I am comfortable with computers, circuit boards, etc. And if you are...

Fuel Info, Eng/Met, not lighting up

The light went out again, so i went to a electonics store (after trying radio shack) and they had this exact socket w/ the bulb unit! Easy. You "can" remove the bulb by unwinding it from around the plastic socket piece. So if you can find the bulb alone it wouldn't be that hard to repair. I...

    1996 loose dash pad

My dash pad is pretty loose. I hit a bump and major rattling. This is incredibly annoying. :mad The passenger side is especially loose over the door for the air bag. The problem (i think) is there is little metal c-looking clamps riveted to the bottom of the dash that fit into slots under the...

    Floor repair needed

Here is how I ened up! It was interesting. Its solid now. Very strong. It has also reduced some of the body flexing. There was one missing rivet that came out along the door sill. Just replaced to hold the floor board down.

Flasher unit - low sound clicking

I had my old flasher unit replaced when i had my turn signal was replaced. Or more accurately, the mechanic took it upon himself to replace them. But there is very little sound coming from the flasher unit. It clicks, but I can barely hear it. It used to be much louder with old one. I went...

    Fans not blowing fast air

Ok, phew... i was able to take the blower motor out of the housing tonight. Once out, I turned it on and the motor spun pretty good. I dont know how fast it was going exactly or how fast it should be, but was pretty good on high. I was also able to pier into the evaporator core and looked...

    Roof leaks - Cannot find

I replaced the weatherstripping, and still leaks... more! I went back and re-glued the parts that looked loose, ie, did not attach to the front part of the windshield. It must be the seal between weatherstrip and windshield. It really looks tight and good for the roof panel to the...

    Fans not blowing fast air

ok, so i took to my cousin's garage today after work. It was 101 F today. He charged the system up with Freon. He said i was all out. It is much, much cooler now. But the fan still seems a little weak. On high it was just ok i guess. I wish it would blow faster, air/fan speed not temp. The...

    Fans not blowing fast air

ecss I knew you were going to say that. :ugh. It was worth a try. It was well over 90 this weekend and i thought this might be alittle too adventureous for my skill level. I started to unbolt things early sunday morning, but it was just too hot and it looks like a lot infront of the blower...
