2nd on the timing issue .... BUT
When it backfires, are you coasting off throttle ?
Is the exhaust stock?
Any air leaks in the exhaust ?
Has the power " FEEL " changed?
So is 1 tooth equal to
the position on the cap of 1 full move between positions wire holes
EG IF i went 1 tooth clockwise ( and I was on 1 ) would the rotor now be on 8
OR
Would it be 1/2 way between those 2 points ??
So considering I do not have enough room with the 461 to bring the engine into correct timing by just doing the " twist ".
AND the mission today is to put the chrome doghouse on AND have the timing correct!
( trying to get 4~10 degrees of range ), because there isn't much swing with the...
A simple test
Do you have a 12 volt motorcycle battery ( with clip leads & fuse ) ?
try powering the fans directly to see if they spin.... simple, cheap & telling....
Do you have a test light... is there power getting to the fan ?
Have you checked that there is power going in & out of that...

Might want to call them to see if it can be adapted to a TACH drive... right now it's a speedo conversion and I would think the balistics would be a bit on the SLOW side...

The heads have peanut plug holes, so no new plugs...
The distrib at full advance in maxed out at 0 TDC... and it needs to move a tooth...need to make up a 7 degree diff. GRRRRRR.
Had to cut upper hose to put the top fill in ... still can't top system off with out...

There is a servo that controls the hot / cold flap in the ducting
The rod from the servo connected to the door via a PIECE OF DOO DOO nylon clip
If memory serves you attack it from the pass side have to drop the panel under the dash to get to it
that was my issue.. and I had to...

All the freon is out and the low pressure switch isn't working.....
The clock has nylon drive gears.. which IF original are missing lots of teeth..
I'll bet you cant set time by pulling out the knob either...I did the Ebay 80 buck quartz conversion
There is only 1 OH BY THE WAY with that...
What you have is not a stock AC car
The " factory " AC cars had 6 knobs
2 for radio
2 for the heater ( like yours N mine )
2 above ( not sure of function )
AND a center vent above the clock

In the before time....On my 84
It's really tricky to do it via the breaker bar & pipe method
I did a 1" breaker bar & socket, chocked the wheels and a 4 foot cheater pipe....
That STILL didn't get it... 2 days of oil.. and it budged after STANDING on the end of the cheater and bouncing...
