    gas prices

Here in Santa Rosa, CA, we have just broken the $2 barrier for the cheap stuff! Premium is around $2.20! Good thing I walk to work most days.

    gas prices

I'm sorry, it should be ANWR (Artic National Wildlife Refuge) not ANWAR--that was Saddat's first name.

    gas prices

Not to get too political, but the strike in Argentina has a lot to do with fuel prices as does refinery capacity. Right now, the refineries are at about 97 to 98% capacity and they have to refine many different types of "boutique" fuels as different areas of the country (states, counties, etc)...

Clay bar left scratches in my paint!!!!

I have used the Scratch X and found it to be very good. I used the swirl remover once and did not find it to be very usefull. Claying by itself will not remove any scratches.

    C6 Corvette Has Been Seen

Rob, Thanks for the info. Rick is a friend of mine and I have purchased all my Vettes from him and he is holding my spot for a C6 (I want one I want one I want one). I will speak with him and if I get any more out of him. I will post it.

Clay bar left scratches in my paint!!!!

Jedi, DetailingDude has given you great advice and I believe that the towels were the culprit. If you have consistent fine scratches all over your car, I would bet money that it was the towels or applicators that you used. Also, as DD pointed out, don't press or rub too hard. Light pressure...

    Best tire for 96 LT1

I prefer the Bridgestone Potenza 730s as a nice all around tire. They are very quiet and ride much better than the GSCs that it came with. Good in the wet--although I only tested this a few times and very nice in the dry. I paid about $800 out the door a few years ago. If you drive your car...

Bridgestone Potenza RE730 Gen II vs. BF Goodrich G Force T/A KDWS...Any Comments?

Bridgestones for me I changed my Goodyear GSCs at 25,000 miles to Bridgestone Potenza RE730s. This was two years ago so I am not sure which "generation" they are. However, I love them. My car (FE1 suspension) rides much better and MUCH quieter than with the Goodyears. I paid about $800 out...

Surviving NYC - Shocks and Tires

RedHookGal, I looked into this a while ago also and decided against it for a number of reasons, but this is what I found out. For shocks, Sears, of all places, has a very nice soft shock that you may like. I can't remember any specifics about it but I am sure a Sears garage could tell you...

    Best Rotors

ToniH, Thanks for the thougts. I was having massive problems with over heating of the brakes so I added cooling ducts, the cryo rotors as described above, and competition pads. The combo works great, but I am looking for a little more rotor life. So far, I have spoken with Brian over at...

    Best Rotors

I know this has probably been discussed before, but I wanted some fresh opinions and the latest news on what others have tried. I participate in non-competitive track events and have been going through the rotors. Currently, I have some crygenically treated Brembos on my '96 CE LT1 and have...

    A couple more tidbits

In addition to what LMN8R stated in the Motor Trend article, the SS also featured paddle shifters. Hmmmmm. Maybe testing it for the new C6? I hope so.

    nose job

I am currently having the front bumper on my '96 CE repainted as someone backed into it. The shop manual for the estimate states that removal of the front bumper is a 7.5 hour job--the most expensive part of this operation. Then upon reattachment, you do have to align it properly as mentioned...

    Z06 Wheels on a C4

Wow, they do look nice on C4s.:cool However, I have decided against them. I am racheting up my track events this year and have decided to throw the money for thewheels into these events. Keep the pics coming, though!

Vettes Suck (now I just need help and i knew this would get some attantion)

Good Luck with restoring the Vette. The C4s are killer cars and I love their looks. So do many other people. In fact, I was out in my car on Christmas Eve and while backing out of a parking space, a 50ish woman commented: "That's what I want for Christmas." I also have to agree with some...

    Bose Radio-am/fm static

I can not personally help you but I would call Doctor Don's in Texas. Here is the web site: http://www.doctordons.com/. They have helped me out a couple of times now. Good luck. Kurt

    3M Paint Protective Film

Here is the link to a group that sponsors my racing club: http://www.clearsolutions.bz/index.htm. I have seen their product on a couple of 911s and briefly thought about putting it on my '96 CE after my hood was replaced and repainted following an accident. These folks indicated that...

    Type of shock?

I am not sure of the "goo" fix, I would just take it to a shop and have it fixed. As for the Bridgestones, I believe that they were around $160 each and I have had them for a couple of years now with about 25,000 miles on them. The fronts still have plenty of tread left, the rears are starting...
