    Suspension: Alignment settings

I have had a little negative camber put into my '96 CE and had the caster dropped to about 5.5 and I really like the improved handling and no noticable uneven wear. These settings take care of most of the understeer and I have not noticed any untowards wear--and I do like to corner hard. I...

    Coolant Flush

Does anybody know where I can find detailed step-by-step instructions on how to do a coolant flush on a LT1 C-4? I am a novice mechanic but would like to give this a try so I would need pretty detailed directions.

    Wax Help

The clay bar is rubbed over the surface of the paint with a detailer spray used as a lubricant. The directions are on the box. You can buy the clay in an auto parts store, it is in the wax section.

    Wax Help

BigRed, Depending on the finish, wash it and wait 60 before you wax a repainted car. If there is still some crud on the finish as evidenced by the paint feeling anything but baby butt smooth, try using a clay bar. It will remove all surface imperfections. Follow up with any good quality...

    Koni Adjustables

Thanks Micke. In response to the previous post, I only have the base, nonadjustable suspension. So Micke, did the ride quality really improve? The folks at the Tire Rack said it would be a waste of money if my goal was to soften the ride for daily driving yet still be competitive for...

    Koni Adjustables

I am considering getting Koni Sport adjustables all around on my 1996 CE. I would like a better ride during daily driving yet still want to be competitive in SCCA Solo II. These seem like the best choice and value out there. Has anyone used these and what has been your experience? Pros/Cons.

    Exhausts Systems

I too am interested in hearing what others have to say on this subject. I have thought about replacing the stock system on my '96 CE LT1 but have been wary of potential noise and resonance issues.

    Scratched Window Glass

I have noticed that I have the beginings of some scratches on the outside of the driver's side window glass near the side mirror.:mad My car is a '96 CE. I thought that there were some posts on this subject but have failed to locate any. The scratches are vertical and appear to be caused by...

    Power Steering

Thanks for your thoughts Ken. However, it appears that the only symptom that my car has is the infrequent loss of power assist. No moaning, no play, no leaks. It only has 47,000 pampered miles so I really hope that it is not a bad rack. Unless you feel otherwise, I was going to try to flush...

    lifters/rocker arms

Nathan, In my instance, cold means less than 40F ambient temp. I use only Mobile 1 10W-30 and often my car will sit for a week before I drive it. However, it is only on the cold mornings that I hear this sound.

    lifters/rocker arms

I too have notice a "tapping" sound from my 1996 LT1 upon start up on cold mornings. It is definitely related to engine speed as it happens faster with increasing speeds. I always assumed it was the valves making a little noise until the car warmed up and have not worried about it other than...

    Power Steering Flush

Any tips on flushing the power steering fluid? My 1996 CE has a little hesitation in the steering boost from time to time and I thought a flush with new fluid would be the best place to start. Is there a drain valve or do I need to have it sucked out from the filler cap? Any help/tips would...

    C6 Spied?

That spy shot is the new Caddy Evoq. I did hear, though, that Bob Lutz reluctantly signed off on the new Vette design just about 2 months ago. Rumor had it that his reluctance was due to the fact that he thought the car didn't push the envelope of styling as much as it should. An additional...

    Cracks in Leather Seats 1984-1996

This sounds like an interesting product. Can you now clean and condition the leather seats as usual. Or are there restrictions or special products for this?

    Power Steering

I have a 1996 CE LT1 that, on some mornings, has labored steering. I have not noticed any unsual sounds nor have I observed any apparent trend (e.g. cold mornings, sitting in the garage for a couple of days). It does not happen immediately on start up, rather, it takes a few minutes to...

    C6 Platform Goals

I got two words for the next Vette: paddle shifter. OK, and maybe 450bhp (in all models) and <3000 pounds. As for DRLs, yeah you can see the car from a farther distance but you don't crash into them when they are far away. If you can't see the car when it is right in front of you, then you...

    Whats Up With These Gsc

Goodyear GSCs Several statements on this posting have been in slight error with regard to Goodyear GSCs. First, LT1s do not have the same size tires all around. The fronts are narrower than the rears. Second, each tire is directional with an off-set center groove. Therefore, each wheel has...

    Vette Tires

I replaced the Goodyears on my 1996 with Bridgestone Potenza RE730s. The difference is remarkable. First, most rattles have vanished and the road noise is non-existent below 65 mph. I could not believe the the transfomration. Gread traction in wet (so I am told) and dry. In fact, I...

    Ceramic Compound Brake Pads

I think that they are a NAPA house brand but not sure.
