82 Crossfire - passenger throttle body dumping gas when key turned on

Sounds like the pressure regulator diaphragm on the passenger side TB is shot. You'll need a rebuild kit for that- they are about $65 or so. :thumb

    New engine for an 82

How much do you want to spend? How much are you willing to spend? Those two might have very different answers! :chuckle You can really set up the crossfire. It's totally possible. Now, there won't be many OEM parts left once you upgrade the ECM, TBs, intake, injectors, etc. :D So...

    Moving to 3.73 gears

30+ years on the 82's rear end was a good run. It was time to get some work done in the rear with shocks, bushings, and the differential. The rear end was coming out and so it was a good time to clean up the somewhat noisy rear end and go to a 3.73 ratio. I had thought about a 3.55 at one...

    American OEM vs Chinese Reproductions

I've seen a lot of sub-par parts over the years that come from the all over the world. US, Germany, China, Japan- and lots of other places. I've also seen some really nice stuff come from China and everywhere else. :beer I think it depends on the price point and the market. When supply is...

Are performance chips worth the money?

It's good to hear you are getting what you want out of the CFI! :thumb If you have the TBIs balanced and they are in good shape (the shafts aren't leaking)... fuel pressure is good... the CFI will run nicely in OEM form & with a chip. When / if you want to move beyond the stock cam... you...

    Tire choices for the C3

I wish someone would mass produce the aluminum 80-82 wheels in a 17" size. Why not- they make snowflakes and honeycomb wheels for Pontiacs. :chuckle

    Dyno............Who Needs A Dyno?

Ideally, some sort of dattalogging program capture & recording program - but you need to have an ECM to do that. You can see real time what is happening with RPM, speed, A/F ratio, etc, and acceleration times. I think there is an App in the iPhone store that does the same thing as a G-tech...

Question: Will the Edelbrock Pro Fo XT fit under an 84 Hood?

Wow- looks really, really good! :) Are you running any emissions- such as the smog pump? You may have mentioned and I forgot. LOL Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Help

Here is a video that's pretty good... a lot of it is elementary and probably talks through some things you now, but it's pretty thorough. Parasitic battery drain diagnosis- C4 Corvette - YouTube The short story is to set up the voltmeter inline and to keep pulling fuses until the draw stops...

Interior restoration- a couple of thoughts

I finally got around to taking the 82's interior apart for a thorough cleaning and restoration. This is at least the 5th car I have replaced carpet in over the last twenty years. I left the dash, glove box, gauges, and center console alone- and basically pulled everything out from the kick...

Question: converting 1981 vette to vacume advanced dizzy weliland intake

No worries... there will be no "keep it stock" discussion from me. :chuckle A non-computer controlled carb swap is easy. All the parts can be found on Jeg's, Summit, or wherever. A simple vacuum advance distributor will do. You should be able to find one for less than $200. Off the top of my...

    Tachometer light bulb change

Replacing the dash bulbs are not too hard as far as projects go. I replaced all of the bulbs with LED bulbs. If you don't mind the fact you can't dim them... they make a huge difference. I've included a picture that compares the difference. The brighter, bluer image is with LED bulbs.

Question: LQ9 swap in 72 convertible need help installing fuel pump lines and regulater on frame says to mount within 6" inches

Hi! I have done a couple EFI swaps on C3s over the years. When I ran an external pump, I placed it on the frame rail next to the tank on the passenger side. I ran hard line from the top of the tank and then bent it 90 degrees to get over the corner of the tank and then another 90 degrees to...

Question: Will the Edelbrock Pro Fo XT fit under an 84 Hood?

Glad that it's going well for you! Wiring can be a massive PITA sometimes. I found that re-pinning was the way to go. For a port set up, one would just have to add the leads for the additional injectors and then to wye the existing leads so that you go from two to four. On speed density, the...

Question: Will the Edelbrock Pro Fo XT fit under an 84 Hood?

Best bet is to careful clip the wires from the OE connector. Our Vettes had card reader terminals. You need the pin terminals or whatever the FAST harness requires. If you want a really clean installation, repin your harness to the FAST ECM connector. That may require you to use the FAST...

Question: Will the Edelbrock Pro Fo XT fit under an 84 Hood?

Looking really good!!! :thumb Yeah- I remember pulling the heater core out on my old C3. UGH! Oh my gosh... what a PITA. I can only imagine how much more... err- "fun"... it is on a RHD car is. :ugh You car is awesome. :cool!:

Dang it! Now I'm going to do an LS swap going just to fall behind gracefully... :chuckle :thumb ;) :L I love the second coming of horsepower. We're finally where we should have been 20 years ago. :thumb

    LT1 Conversions

I think it sounds kinda neat actually. Non-stock stuff is fun! :thumb L98 cam... .415" IN /.430" EX LT1 cam... .447" IN /.459" EX That should be higher lifting cam- I don't think that will throw a code. The MAF system should keep up with demand- but it also might be too much outside what the...

140mph Speedometer and Crate Engine Specific Tach Redline

Thanks Peter! I don't mind the blue. I mean... The car itself is blue so slightly blue lighting is fine! I spoke with a guy that does Vette gauges and he said the blue color behind the gauge surrounds reflects that blue-ish tone to the lights. He said when he's done red gauges for Pontiacs...
