Corvette Resto-mods - Yes or No

Stock looking as much as possible. It surprises folks that way. :thumb

George Barris dies at age 89.

George excelled at making the unimaginable... imaginable and tangible. His taste wasn't for everyone- but the guy was good at what he did. :thumb Thanks George for being the guy who made so many of the cars of my childhood!

Question: Need info on crossfire injection

A rebuild would be a good idea. And maybe a tune up.

Question: Need info on crossfire injection

Since you have a carb, I think 6lbs is where your fuel pressure should be. Your mixture may be off if you are thinking there is something not right with the fueling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Question: Will the Edelbrock Pro Fo XT fit under an 84 Hood?

I love the updates- what an awesome project!!! I'm certain you'll be making more power than I am... but was curious about what you thought about the factory rear end, gear ratios, and traction. :beer I've considered running a 3.55 rear end in my '82 but somewhere between the 15" wheels and...

Question: Need info on crossfire injection

I think another thing is to not overshoot your wallet and your expectations from your mechanical skill and ability to the performance you are looking for out of the car. You could build an awesome EFI system. You could rebuild an OE system. You could optimize your existing set up. Sounds to me...

Question: Need info on crossfire injection

They aren't "bad" systems. Most people just don't know how to work on them let alone maintain them. It's a good set up in factory form to do what it does: produce 200hp. When all the parts are there and it is tuned & maintained... it runs quite nicely. And yes- with the right parts and...

    My Modified '82

More on IAT placement... In a speed density system, the IAT plays a critical role in calculating the density of the air coming in and how much fuel is needed. A challenge I was running into a few months ago was with getting the IAT/CTS blend just right and compensating for using the fresh air...

    My Modified '82

Key highlights for modifications and the calibrations settings... Thought I would share these as well. The major pieces of the tune are pretty much set now as far as I am concerned- VE, SA, O2 Mv, etc- since I haven't had any big swings in % on VE learns in a couple of months. Again, all of...

    My Modified '82

I kinda needed the gauges "updated" to reflect the new red line. I also thought while I was there I'd update the speedometer too. :chuckle The picture below is in another thread- but thought I would share the before & after here. EDIT: LED replacement bulbs are the way to go! They are a lot...

1982 Collector Edition Hood Louvre Issue

There are times when I really wish I had access to the OEM calibration file for the '82s. My sense is the calibration may be different just a bit on the VE table at 100KPAs (PE mode) to accommodate the air coming in from the chamber. FWIW- I'm not running the door either. In fact, I have a...

140mph Speedometer and Crate Engine Specific Tach Redline

:upthumbs I personally think these look soooo much more appropriate. These cars just cry out for the 140mph speedo. Very happy with them- especially the tachometer. My crossfire shifts at 5,450rpm- and not 5k like the OE crossfire. :thumb Both gauges were customized to carry on the style from...

Who needs 69-71 BLANK engine data spec plates?

Awesome!! Good job fighting the good fight! Yah, I would love a custom data plate for my 82. Needs to say 325hp and 373lbs-ft tq. One day I guess. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This is a GREAT build thread! Keep the story coming! :thumb

Tach in off position on a 82

:chuckle Bill's right though. :thumb FWIW- Mine will float up to around 800rpm when it is turned off. No big deal. I have validated with the car hooked up to a laptop during datalogging that the tach reported RPMs are pretty close to what is being reported by the ECM to the laptop.

    Longblock swap for a 1984 crossfire C-4

Find an Offy intake, bore the TBI units out to 2.1 inches, run the TB units parallel with a VAFPR, run 90lb injectors, get an LT1 fuel pump, and go with an EBL ECM. That's the short list you'd need. I don't think your OEM crossfire intake will meet that engine's needs. But man- if you get...

    Longblock swap for a 1984 crossfire C-4

:w C4yourself! Oh... first and foremost... :welcome Yes- you can swap out the engine (longblock with heads) for any pre-87 configuration of those and it will bolt up to the crossfire intake. Technically... even an 87 and later engine SBC Gen I (non-Vortec heads / non-LT1 reverse flow...

    Important! Horsepower,anybody's, guess

Horsepower is part of the equation- as is weight, torque, and gearing. I've seen 1st gen RX7s with LS1s that were "slow" because they couldn't get traction. I've seen high HP engines in cars that are slower than lower HP cars because of gearing, weight, etc. 15% loss is not too bad actually...

    Fahrfrompassin': VW cheats EPA standards

A law is a law- no doubt that it is important that folks follow them. I do think aside from the undercurrent of anyone thinking a law doesn't apply to them but everyone else... I'd ask were there performance gains- and were the impacts that bad? The reason I ask... is that if creating less of...
