    Painted helmet

Attended a Jets and Vettes GTG and found someone to paint my helmet. Check this out in the link below. Really like what he did to "Jake" in the back of the helmet. Login

    Almost got a ticket

As more and more cities go broke...more and more enforcement of laws aimed at adding more $$$ into cities' budgets. Have the front plate on my C5 but have resisted, so far, from installing the front plate on the C6.

Question: C-5 air dam or spoiler

Those plastic reinforcement pieces make good templates for some heavy sheet metal pieces you can make. Use the plastic pieces as a "washer" between the dam and the metal reinforcment.

Road Trip - LA, San Fran, Lake Tahoe

Like I said, don't know much of anything between Ely and Delta. So if you don't stay in Ely don't count on staying anywhere until you get to Delta. There just isn't anything there and I don't recall seeing much of anything in Delta either - maybe Super 8's, Motel 6 types. Keep the Valentine on...

Road Trip - LA, San Fran, Lake Tahoe

I don't remember seeing speed limit signs. You won't fall asleep cruising in the high 80's low 90's with occasional forays into the 'teens. Just remember to obey the posted limits approaching and through the few towns in-between the emptiness. Carefull through the mountain passes as there are NV...

First post as a C5 owner.....

:beer Also went from a '94 Torch Red to an '01 Torch Red. '01 was a year-old lease return made in Sept 00. Bought it in Sept 01 so it was a current year used car. Glad I didn't take the initial depreciation on it. Welcome to the C5:w

    Used car loans

Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOC) are usually cheaper than a fixed rate Home Equity Loan. Most HELOCs have adjustible rates. Mine is currently at 4.99%. With a 40-year old car you'll probably need cash for the inevitable restoration and/or mod so a HELOC may be good for you. Most banks or...

    What was Pontiac's best model?

Had a '85 Fiero GT but traded it in for a pickup so I could tow my '68 SCCA Solo II Corvette roadster. Always thought that if GM had allowed the model to continue it would have been a nice mid-engined vette alternative. I would have liked to have seen it with a powerful V6 (250+)and a 6-speed...

Questions on buying a C5...or...New old member PNW

Had the Goodyear GS-D3's. Wore out the rears after 3-years and approximately 15 autocrosses. Fronts probably have 50% left. Complete cost of replacement close to $1500 (mounted, balanced, taxes, etc). I'm replacing with Kumho MXs non-runflats for less than $750. Loved the Goodyears but could not...

    STS turbo

:cool CARB legal. All I need now is a big $timulus check :D

    Tire inflator question

Jim, first you gotta put down the beer :D Carried a plug kit and jack with me to the 2007 CAC cruise in Colorado Springs since my C5 have non-runflats. Thought I was pretty cool till I got home and actually tried to use the jack - it would not go under the car even with non-flat tires :eyerole...

    STS turbo

Will it pass CA smog? Do the STS turbos have a CARB (California Air Resources Board) number? Haven't done much to my vettes mainly becasue of CARB. Oh...lots of articles about these in vette mags usually favorable comments. Love to do the same but see above.

    Question: Is this normal?

Probably don't see many vettes much less a C6. Probably just wanted to check it out. You should have offered them a ride :D

    Would this drive you crazy?

Had a problem keeping the tips aligned after B&B PRT catback install on my C5. I could get it nice but one side or another would loosen up and mess up the alignment. Finally took it to a old time, one man, muffler shop and he took the impact wrench to it after he aligned it - no more loosening...

    Wiper Arm Removal?

I just changed my blades out the other day. I think the ones that were on there were the originals form when the '01 came out of the factory with in Sept '00. Not that they were worn out since I do very limited rain driving but felt that the old blades were probably dry and ready to go...

Question: Kumho Ecsta XS rear sizing question

Interested in the Kumho Ecsta XS 180 rating for autocross/street use to be mounted on stock OEM '01 thins spokes. Fronts match the stock 245/45/17 while the closest size for the rears are 275/35/18 (stock rears are 275/40/18). Front diameter 25.7 while the 275/35/18 are 25.6. Some say having a...

    Wheel Upgrade Question

Aside from the front/rear size bias also be careful about weights. Repro wheels (especially the cheaper ones) tend to be heavy compared to the stock wheel/tire combo. I picked up a set of repro Z06 wheels, all chromed up with appropriately upsized tires. They looked great (read "bling") but...
