    original delivered equipment???

You can get a copy of the original invoice (and window sticker) from GM. It used to be free, when I got mine. I thought someone posted a thread that it now costs.

    reverse lock out

Mine is an automatic. It has a wooden ball with the 25th anniversary logo button in the middle on top.

    reverse lock out

I have had the button off. I needed to replace the boot. There is a spring. The wood knob moves up and down like you would expect it to. However, it is not necessary. I can shift just fine without pulling it up.

    reverse lock out

The reverse lockout does not work on my 78. There is nothing I have to do to move the shifter into, through, or out of, reverse. I almost went from Drive(3) to reverse last year at the drag strip. That would not have been good. In your humble opinion, what would be the most likely culprit. I've...

    Clunking sound

I need to find me a 'car guy' like that :-)

    Too funny

Well, they got the bearings changed. When they got it out, it turned out the u-joints needed replacing also. They had to send the 'shaft' out for some milling. Anyway, the $250 quote turned out to be $550 by the time the dust settled. I could have sent it to the dealer (who has all the tools)...

    Ditching C3 Seats???

When it was time for me to redo my C3 seats, do you think I could find any frames anywhere? Nope. I had to pay the upholstery shop to weld the frames and straighten them before they could be recovered. You can also "chuck" those seats my way ;-)

    Clunking sound

He was whining about shims. His buddy had to go get some more. Just makes me realize all the more that it was (is) a job that is above my capabilities. Are the kids still "above average" in Lake Wobegon?

    Clunking sound

Oh, he also said the U-joints were bad. He had never seen anything rusted together so bad as the u-joints. I read somewhere that it can happen to these cars.

    Clunking sound

I talked to the shop yesterday. Evidently the bearings weren't "too bad". But they were loose. Evidently somebody, at one time, did the job without the proper tools and didn't get the bearings in right. I hope that is all it is. I am getting real tired of pouring $$$ into the thing to stop the...

    Clunking sound

Unfortunately, I live in Winona. Long way from St Cloud. I may have to contact him anyway when I am ready to replace the exhaust. Thanks for the tip.

    Too funny

I called around town trying to find someone who would replace the rear wheel bearings in my 78. The local dealer quoted $800. I called another shop, they would wouldn't touch a Vette. A 3rd shop never returned my call. The 4th shop shop said, "Sure. $250 a wheel." I dropped the car off yesterday...

    Clunking sound

Well, I dropped Ka-Ching off at the shop this morning to get the wheel bearings replaced. I hope that finally gets rid of the clunking sound. I also had to take my pickup to the shop. It decided to develop and annoying whine yesterday afternoon. Sounds like maybe a bearing burning out. Looks...
