Hey all,
I recently filled up my tank (usually every three months or so). I noticed the fuel gauge the last few times, maybe more has been lagging or failing to register. I use to be able to shut down and fire it back up again and all would be good. I know there is no recommendation to a fuel...
Just wondering if you looked at the connections on the PCM since it's suspect. The water or antifreeze went all over like you said. This can affect grounds on the frame rails as well. The beach area, salt water etc., I would think connections, connections, connections. Although the PCM might...
Hey,
Just to confirm what you experience with the temp gauge. Mine as well pegs at 3/4 on the conventional temp gauge which is around 230° on the digital temp. This car ran this way from when I first got it and it still does the same thing. I think the thermostat for my car which is a 93 is 192...
A fuel pressure gauge is your best bet. I hooked one up a while ago when I was having a problem with my fuel pressure regulator which by the way went bad on me some years ago. On the fuel rail is a schrader valve, depress it just a millisecond with a small screw driver and a rag over it of...
Gee, it was a long time ago. All I can remember it was a box that had heat sink cooling fins on it with big red letters "MSD"? I remember taking it apart and fixing connections. Can't remember if it was soldered connections or mechanical but I remember them being bad.
Really a bad day but, she could have been really hurt if the debris hit her. I once had a rock from an overhead train hit my hood right in line with my windshield. If it hit a little later I would've been gone. A nice size hole in my trucks hood.....thank the lord it wasn't the vette. I'm just...
FYI....I used to repair the MSD's on a friends race car a lot. For some reason the connections would always go bad internally and the car wouldn't fire. I asked him why this was but he didn't know. Anyway, he had about three of them that I worked on and they were all bad. Fixing the internal...
My 93 acted this way. Try cleaning the IAC pintle on the throttle body....I had to clean mine a few times. Lot's of carbon buildup. I'm not getting a rough idle at startup anymore and it gets pretty hot here in Florida....
Mine is a 93 and I had to replace the motor. From what I remember I removed the license plate and tail lamp lenses which gave me access to the motor. I can't remember exactly where I got the info from but it was probably here. I think the book I had at the time wanted you to remove the bumper...
Just before I left NJ in 2013 they gave me a real hard time with emmissions. The Ox sensors were a little lazy but they worked fine. These C4's are starting to get old like me. Plan on passing her down soon and hope it's kept in the family for another 25 years or maybe longer. It's been really a...
Wow....sounds like an interesting project. Like the roll bar. Keep us posted as you move along, interesting to find out your track times when she's ready. I'm sure this forum will be an asset to your build, lot's of knowledgable people here as well as a ton of technical stuff. I don't do race...
Thanks all, will check into the insurance. I did have hagerty at one time for an agreed value but the prices kept going up and up so I went back to my regular insurance company. I'll check out American though....
Wow....lucky you on the 05. I would own another vette if I had a place to put it. Garage is full and so is the driveway....too many vehicles for another car. I need a building....lol!
I have a 93 coupe and I thought as the car reaches it 25th year I could get an antique tag but, looking on the DMV here in Florida it has to be 30 years old. Just curious if other states are different and recognize 25 years as old as dirt for a car. No biggy, just thought I could save a little...
On my 93 the running lights come on with the parking lights. Does your 90 not? I'd run a seperate switch if it don't and disconnect them from the headlights.
You didn't tell us the year. I know mine the pintle valve that controls air in the throttle body (IAC) I guess it's called was dirty. Lot's of carbon buildup.
Welcome Jocob.....nice lookin car. I couldn't afford one at that age. A 70's vette brand new around 5 grand. I always said some day.....
Good luck with your ride and learn all u can, lot's of good stuff here.
