    Dual Exhaust

Any '81 owners that have replaced the stock exhaust 2-1-2 system to a true dual system using headers (not sidepipes)? Looking for brand of headers used and pictures of the exhaust piping routing. Might be time to remove the sidepipes....may be. Thanks in advance.

    wont run right

Make sure the balancer outer ring has not slipped which would show timing is off. Best way know to do this is to remove one of the valve covers and with the distributor cap off, pick a cylinder and rotate the engine and watch the valves and rotor position. When both valves are closed on the...

    Plug Wires Great Fun

Tom, You want to sell the MSD 35051 crimper tool? Probably going to be a long time before you use it again. Or if not sell it, rent it out? I have to put a new set of wires on and was able to borrow a tool last time, but doubt that it is available any longer. Really do not want to buy a new...

    Oil Dipstick Replacement

That is one of the problems; all of the tubes are shorter and of course are not bent the same.

    Oil Dipstick Replacement

I managed to break off the spot weld on the mounting tab which tore-out the tube...so no chance of fixing it. So have others had success with one of the flexible dipsticks or another? Is there anything special about the '81 Corvette engine oil dipstick that requires a "special" dipstick or...

    1981 Carb, TPS pin length.....

When you say "jumper" across the middle and top connections, you are not meaning to put a jumper wire across those two terminals right? I think what you are saying is that you need to put a small wire into the back of the connetor for the top and middle terminals and then measure the voltage...

    1981 Carb, TPS pin length.....

Paul, I was just thinking after I re-read your posting; I did not read the first time that a new TPR rod had come with with the new TPS; it's twice as long as the 'bubba' one.!! Hopefully the new TPS resistance range and taper are the same as the original TPS so that it will work with the...

    Help! Timing issues

edsvette: No I do not have a favorite brand of ignition module, on your own on that one. The dwell, is it varying or steady? If steady that is a problem and could be that the ecm is not functioning...which is likely to be the PROM is bad and OEM is not available new, only used, if you can find...

    Help! Timing issues

Are the timing numbers repeatable....meaning that if after setting the timing with computer disconnected at 6°, then connecting computer, does the timing go to 36 at idle repeatly after reving the engine to 2500 rpm and seeing the timing jump to 48? If computer disconnected, is timing at 6°...

Paint Codes....where is that list at??

Looking for the paint code for mahogany....is it 06 or O6? Thinking about painting my white with cinnabar interior to mahogany with cinnabar interior. White just does not appeal to me....I like a nice strong color.

Gauge console top two screw repair?

I have the gauges out of the dash now and does not appear to be able to take a U clip....pretty thick in this area, about 3/8" or so. I could find nothing in the assembly manual either. So back to asking for assistance; is it just the foam that the screws are supposed to go into or is there...

Gauge console top two screw repair?

A U clip...well now maybe that is the problem & solution in one! When I got the car and was doing all the restoration, there were no U clips at this location....time for me to get the assembly manual out to see if it shows this. Not sure how thick the dash is at these points....it was a LONG...

Gauge console top two screw repair?

The center gauge console has two screws that go into the dash....well these have stripped-out on mine and so the screws just fall out. The dash is made of foam, and was wondering what others have done to repair this area so that the screws actually screw-in and provide some support for the...

    Coolant & Oil Temp Sensors

I did find that Wilcox Corvettes has a range for the coolant temp on their web site. I wrote it down and now unable to find it....:ugh

    Coolant & Oil Temp Sensors

I was hoping that there were specs on the two sensors and what the resistance was for certain temps. I know that in another car I had the fuel gauge was 0 - 90 ohms. I did measure the coolant temp while the engine was running, but still warming-up and I got a reading of 325 ohms. I do not...

    Coolant & Oil Temp Sensors

Does anyone know what the resistance range is supposed to be for the coolant and oil temperature sensors? I would like to check the calibration of the gauges....although calibration is a bit too "strong" of a term. My coolant gauge reads just under the thick 200°F mark, right where it should...

    L81 Stock Heads Part Number??

Since I have CRS, could someone tell me what the part number is for the stock GM heads? I think it was "441, or '461 or something like that. Well....found my answer and I was not even close. The stock head part number is 462624.

    Help! E4ME Dwell problem

Great that you got it fixed...but a bit confused with your post above; you say you replaced the tps and the map sensor. Just wanted to know for sure that it was the tps that you replaced. The tps is internal to the E4ME carb; so you removed the carb air horn? Did you replaced the tps pluger...

Replace the ignition module...it has died. Be sure to get a 7 pin module...not a 4 pin.
