    Question: Gas Gauge

Suggest checking to see if the fuel level sensor is working. At the fuel filler (have to remove the cap and rubber boot to get access to the wiring); un-mate the connector and use your voltmeter to measure the voltage across the gauge side of the connector. Should be +12V. Then measure the...

After 4 months, it is ALIVE

Think I will be breaking that habit of putting my left hand onto the side pipe heat shield when getting out of the car from now on. I don't think my left hand will allow itself to be put back there again.......:mad

After 4 months, it is ALIVE

UPDATE with pictures...at the bottom: After bending a valve four months ago, I now have the new Edelbrock Performer heads, used Performer intake, Lunati VooDoo cam/lifters. Did the break-in last night, after finding that I had installed the distributor 180 out and then found-out what happens...

    For The Love Of........

One would think that if something were to be lost it would have been one or more of the inspection cover bolts......but nope....I have them....all four together sitting on the table....right where I put them 3 months ago. As far as the inspection cover....I have given-up....I have looked and...

Question: Edelbrock Heads & Spark Plug Wire Routing

I have the stock wire holders, the ones that bolt to the block just to the rear of each head. These were hitting up against the Edlebrock heads. So I had to remove them to get the heads on. I guess my choices are to just let the wires hang and use a separator; I still use the original wire...

Question: Edelbrock Heads & Spark Plug Wire Routing

So....I go to put my new Edelbrock Performer heads on yesterday and I find that the spark plug wire separators that mount at the rear of the block are in the way....had to remove them to get the heads on. Has anyone been able to use the Edelbrock heads and the stock wire routing or am I going...

Edelbrock Performer Intake and hood clearence???

Very nice indeed. However I want to stay with the stock air cleaner to get as much cool air as possible. But as it turns out that I made a mistake when I bought the Edelbrok intake....got the 2701 for a square bore...when I actually need the 2101 so I can use my QJet. Anyone want to buy a...

Edelbrock Performer Intake and hood clearence???

Turns out that I have the 2701, not the 2101....what was I thinking....actually I was not thinking as the 2701 is for a square bore carb and I am using the stock QJet and need a spreadbore bolt pattern. Argh......must have looked at the numbers without my glasses when I bought this....Argh.....

Edelbrock Performer Intake and hood clearence???

Engine is the stock block, just bored and decked. I can not remember the intake manifold part number....it is the one without EGR so I think it is the 2101, but not sure. I measured the difference between it and the stock intake; measured between the bottom of the base and the top on the carb...

Edelbrock Performer Intake and hood clearence???

As I am SLOWLY getting my engine back together, I had planned on using the Edelbrock Performer intake along with the Performer heads...but have measured the intake to be about 3.4" taller than stock. Sooooo.....can the Performer intake be used wihtout using a drop base air afilter...

    Help! Coolant sensor

The coolant sensor is similar to the fuel level sensor...has about a 10 to 90 ohm range. Use an ohm meter to check the resistance at cold and then with the coolant warm. One meter probe on the coolant sensor terminal, the other probe on the engine block. To test the gauge put a resistor...

    Timing logic?

But since we have no mechanical advance, with the CCC disconneted then the ignition module would provide some additional advance, but I doubt that it would be anywhere near 34-36 total....it is just supposed to be a "limp-home" setting. So to me checking it the way I do, checks to ensure that...

    Timing logic?

I have read and I follow this: set the base timing at about 10 BTDC and with the CCC disconnected. Stop engine, connect CCC, then bring the engine RPM up to 2200 to 2500 and turn the distributor until the timing is at 34-36 BTDC. Clamp down the distributor. Then the base timing is whatever...

    Ignition Module Failure....???"

I still have the front cover on, so I am unable to help at this time. Perhaps I will be able to get the cover off this weekend. I got the cover off and the cam out. But I have an aftermarket aluminum cover as I installed a double-roller and needed extra room. I can take some pictures this...

    Ignition Module Failure....???"

Peter, I was concerned about valve to piston clearance using the 1.6 rockers. However others have already told me that I will be fine...but I will check the clearance when I get all the parts in. I hope my 1.6 rockers work as it will save me a bunch of money.

    Ignition Module Failure....???"

Rockers?? Gerry or anyone....do you know if full roller rockers will fit under the stock valve covers? Since I think I need to replace my 1.6 roller tip rockers with 1.5/1.52 I was wondering about going to full rollers...but do not know if they will fit under the stock valve covers or not...

    Ignition Module Failure....???"

Gerry, I wll heed your advice and double-check the spring height and VooDoo cam requirements. I would rather use a 0.041 gasket as the quench is better than with the 0.051 gasket....but need to double-check the piston to valve clearance. With regards to the article on ChevyHighPerformance...

    Question: Seats

The seat cushions are interchangable side to side and the seat frame backs are as well....but the seat bottoms are not. The seat rails are not either.
