    Help! Power Steering Problem

There are many write-ups on how to repair / replace / balance the power steering system. I have them on a different computer and will find them to forward to you later today. Here is one of the articles...but the pictures did not show-up. If you want the entire article, send me an email...

    Performance tuning the E4ME carb

Anyone tried any performance tuing of the E4ME carb? Things like drilling four small holes in the secondary fuel tubes or anything else that can be done to older QJets? I know abou the different secondary needle hanger available. I picked-up a E4ME carb off the Corvette Forum, thinking it was...

Wheel centers...black or chrome...that is the question

That is what I thought and what I have. When I bought my '81 it came with wheel center caps that were black on the sides. So I got a set of chrome ones with the black in the center with crossed-flags. But I always wondered if this was wrong as the rear window trim was black. In looking...

Good to hear that I have it correct. Does not happen often....makes me wonder what I have wrong now since I have something right....???

    Question for those with clutches

Tim AT: Those are the springs I was asking about. My 81 has provisions for them...I broke one and never put the other back on. I put new bushings in a few years ago. Hib: You are correct. I need to get under the car and check. Have an oil leak that I have been chasing for months now so I...

    Question for those with clutches

I have a rattle that goes away as soon as I place my foot on the clutch pedal. I do not have the two springs that go on the rod between the Z bar and the fork....is this the likely source of the rattle or is it more likely the throw-out bearing? Also clutch action seems to bind a bit after...

Wheel centers...black or chrome...that is the question

Made a correction to my original posting. I was asking about the wheel center caps....not the wheels themself. Sorry for the confusion.

Wheel centers...black or chrome...that is the question

Always thought that the 81 wheel center caps with the aluminum wheels where all chrome...but now I am thinking I am wrong and they should be black as the rear window trim is black.....or do I have that wrong??? So what is the rear window trim and wheel center caps....black or chrome????

    Back from paint!!!!

Repainting is the only thing I have NOT done to my car....what is a typical paint job on these cars cost...with only a very minor repair (stress crack on pass fender)? As this would be the 2nd repainting, it would need to be taken down to glass probably?? I put all new weatherstripping on...

    E4ME settings, timing, what else????

Oil leak fixed. It was a combination of loose oil pan bolts and the engine oil dipstick. Have tightened and replaced....all is really good now. Would like a better off idle response than I have, so some additional fine tuning of the carb is likely needed.

    Replacement oil dipstick needed

I ended up getting a Mr, Gasket (made in china) chrome dipstick. With modifications I was able to get it to work. So I am back on the road again.

    Replacement oil dipstick needed

I think the 79 is on the driver's side??? If on the passenger side, then it should fit. Send me a price. Thanks

    Replacement oil dipstick needed

I ended up breaking the lower spot welded bracket off the stock engine oil dipstick tube...now it has little holes and no support at the base. Anyone have a good replacement? Thanks

    E4ME settings, timing, what else????

UPDATE on this thread: Oil leak is not intake manifold or rear main seal. Possibly the dip stick tube or somewhere above the starter. Still looking. After getting two lower compression readings I decided to take the valve covers off and check / re-do the lash setting. Took the dist cap off...

    Picture rear center gauge console

I had forgotten about those two plugs...yes pulling one of those will work and far easier than a freeze plug...hopefully. Many times those plugs will require a bit of heat in order to get them out. I check my oil temp gauge reading this weekend. Needle stayed halfway between the 100 and the...

    Picture rear center gauge console

I know my coolant temp is under 200F, right at 180F. Oil pressure is just above 40psig at idle or driving. I will get a read on the oil temp this weekend and post. Getting a freeze plug out is not easy...have to drive then into the block, then squeeze it a bit, then pull it out using pliers...

    Picture rear center gauge console

I have no idea what my oil temp is other than it is not too hot. Will have to take note of the actual reading next time. As far as the exchanging coolant sensors....no real good way to get the coolant level low enough. You could remove a freeze plug, but that is really messy. Only other...

    Picture rear center gauge console

By "...original plastic line to connect...", this is the the line that came with the external gauge right? If so, then this line should have just required a ferul and a compression nut type of fitting to attach to a T that screws into the block. If your copper line was a different internal...

    MC Solenoid on O'scope

The more I think about this I am wondering now that something has failed. The last time I put a dwell meter on I had a nice varying dwell, but the O'scope is telling me different now. I tried the dwell meter again and the meter did not even move, so it may be broke now for some reason. Has...
