I have no idea what size tubing the gauge needs so unable to help you out on this one. Let us know what you find out. LannyL81

The mechanical oil pressure gauge can only go where the oil pressure sensor is at...back of intake manifold. You should be able to put a "T" there or just remove the sensor and put the mechanical gauge in for a short time just to get a few readings. AS far as the digital temp...

Question: What sbc heads fit a 81

Chevy 882 heads are a nice way to go as well half the price of aftermaket heads. You can easily find them. Get rid of those light weight stock heads...that crack.

Sorry I have not been able to check-in; I can take that picture today and post it for you. My spare set of gauges does not have the flex on it. Lanny

Okay....I know that when I looked at my gauges I began to wonder if those were resistors I was looking at and not just terminals. So....do you need a picture of the back of the gauges with the flex removed?

    Picture rear center gauge console

I have a second set of gagues in a box somewhere....but I sure do not remember any resistors on the back of it. I think you are going to make me go look. Okay...went and found my extra gauges....this is the original set that came with my '81....I put in a new panel and used a set with the oil...

    Alternator Output Voltage

The latest: Took alternator apart and in removing the armature I broke the brush holder. So I ordered a replacement brush holder, brushes and a diode triode. Arrived on Friday and I put them in this morning. Put everything back together and forgot to pull the pin holding the brushes before I...

    Alternator Output Voltage

TimAT: I agree that 13.8 is more like it. I will need to check the current, but battery seems fine. Peer81: Thanks for the info. Still not sure if 14.55 to 14.65 is okay or not. Think I will just take it off and see what the auto parts store machine tells me. Of course I am sure they will...

    Alternator Output Voltage

Just noticed that my voltage gauge seems to be higher than normal. Measured the battery voltage with car idling and after five minutes it was still at 14.55Vdc....and this is with a two week old battery. With engine off, battery voltage is 12.65Vdc. Does this seem high to anyone? If so...

    Tire Choices???

Time for new set of tires; currently have the BFG Radial TAs in 245-60-15. Not changing the stock aluminum wheels or anything like that; just curious what others are using on the stock wheels. The stock wheels are 7.5" wide??? Thanks, LannyL81

    Question: Exhaust Manifolds

Those AIR tubes are awlful...in that they are too long and protrude well into the center of each exhaust outlet. I put a die grinder to mine and made them all flush. Then I ended up taking them both off and putting Hooker Sidepipes on. Oh well, I am ready to go should I ever want to go back...

    Installed rebuilt trailing arms today

Nope not pictures of the wife....she looks better that!!! nothing special about the rebuilt trailing arms....everyone has seen them before. Van Steel does them in black powdercoat...all clean and shinney, rotors turned and a nice gray powdercoating. But again, nothing different than the...

    Installed rebuilt trailing arms today

I had sent both TAs off to VanSteel for rebuilding; they came back last week so today was installation. Only problem I had was getting the pivot bolt back in....that took a few tries, but got them. I had poly pivot bushings installed and of course when I went to put in the alignment shims the...

Latest pics of the 81 rebuild

Rear Sway Bar I added the rear sway bar to my '81 sometime ago. Quite easy to do. If I remember all I had to remove for the installation was the spare tire....then it goes back on with no problem. AS far as changing the handling....that I could not tell you anything about as I added it when I...

    Adding power door locks

Peter, Like I said I have not had the door panels off in many years so I have no idea what adding power locks involves. I was hoping that the wiring is already in the door and all I would need to add is the lock actuator and switch. If it requires adding wiring from the door to the somewhere...
