Was thinking about adding power door locks to my '81...is the wiring connector in the doors or would this have to be added?

How about brackets and such? Or is this just too much to do this easly?

It has been a long time since I had the door panels off....so I do not remember what is in there.

Thanks,
Lanny

I don't know how involved it would be,
I know on mine it is supposed to activate the alarm.

I just chenged the door lock cylinders and it was a terrible job!! Very sharp metal and very tight spots. To do the door locks I'd guess you may have to remove the windows, a big job in my opinion

Okay I am talked out of even looking further into this....too much work involved.

Thanks for the information.

I don't think it's such a big problem.

Just remove the door panel and look "down" into the door, at the back about 1/3 from the rear and bottom there should be a "hinge" witch connects the rod from the door panel to the lock. If the hinge has a 3rd opening then you can buy the rod and power locks and it will be easy to connect. Wiring harness and switch in the door panels should also be looked at of course but I think at some corvette junkyards it will be easy to find. :)

Greetings Peter

Peter,
Like I said I have not had the door panels off in many years so I have no idea what adding power locks involves. I was hoping that the wiring is already in the door and all I would need to add is the lock actuator and switch. If it requires adding wiring from the door to the somewhere in the dash / console.....I am going to pass on this. I saw actuators on ebay and that is what got me thinking of this.
I will review the assembly manual, may be it will give me some insight.

For used parts, all I know is Contemporary Corvettes....any other good place I could contact??
