    C5 or C4?????

C4 or C5 I had a 96 C4 LT4 convertible and now have a 2000 C5 convertible. The C4 has some positive features. It felt and rode like more of a performance machine - rougher ride, tighter cockpit and the LT4 could fly. I liked the clamshell hood. It was harder to get in and out of a C4 with the...

Why waste $$$ to make your car louder?

I have also had a hard time deciding about exhaust. When I bought my car it had new B&B Bullets on it (very LOUD) which would not have been bad but it was incredibly loud inside the car. The radio or conversation was almost impossible and there was a question whether it would pass Missouri...

    runflat versus non runflats

I was thinking about chaning to a non run flat like those described here. The quieter ride was the main reason. My run flats seem very noisy in my convertible. However, before I could make the switch, I hit some metal object in the road and my left front tire immediately went flat. The DIC...

Stock Bose Radio for the Birds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bose System I have read from others that the rear speakers, behind the seats, are not very good but are easy to replace. Perhaps that impacts on the quality of the sound. My Bose system in my 2000 sounds good but as others have said, the CD sounds better than FM. Does anyone know if there is...

    Beat the Dead Horse Topics

:BDHMany of you have been around CAC for a long time and have participated in many discussions that are hot button topics with no clear resolution. For those of us who have not been here that long, what are the top 10 we cannot agree type topics? I would imagine that some might be: Best...

    C1 windshield frame question...

Getting the "fuelie" to run properly may be expensive. You do know that a 327 is not an original '60 motor? Charles Right you are about the engine. The 283ci engine was used through 1961 with the 327 first arriving in 1962. If the 327 was just a guess and the motor is original, then it is...

    Colors

After reading many posts discussing colors, I looked at production numbers, by color, for the C5 through 2003 (didn't have the data for 2004) and found some interesting facts. The most sold color is Torch Red (46,113) followed closely by Black (41,729). Third place at only half as much is Light...

OK a crazy question? HUD and convertibles

I don't know how it is in a coup, but there are times in the convertible when the sun is positioned right that you cannot see the HUD, even when it is on max brightness. Still, it is better than no HUD.

new owner and i have some questions

Congratulations on your Vette and Welcome to the group. Don't forget to wave to other Vettes you pass, it's a long standing tradition. Just put your transmission in the Overdrive D and go. It won't shift to OD until the speed is right for it. As for the weather stripping, if it doesn't leak...

    C4 or C2

I have had a C1 (62) , C3 (73), C4 (96) and now have a C5 (2000). I missed the C2 (I had a '66 chevelle SS396 instead). If you are after a car that will increase in value, the C2 is the choice but it will cost a lot to get it into good condition and its ultimate value will depend on how purely...

Corvette to sport Chevy's gold bow-tie?

Four Seater Vette?? Speaking of a four seat sports car: :v I recently read an article in one of the Corvette magazines that mentioned that when Ford changed the T-Bird from a two seater to four in 1958, that they sold a lot more. Chevy noticed this and experimented with a four seater Vette...

    bowling green metallic

Dark Bowling Green Metalic Only 1663 of these beauties according to the Corvette black book. The range of color this car can display in sun or shade is amazing. I have had people startled to discover when they got close that it was not black. It must be one of those love it or hate it...

    1973 Convertible

Okay, it was special order but I was not aware that the color was not part of the normal offering until recently when I could not find it on the list. And on the engine, yes, 250HP, 350ci, typo. I tried to order the 454 275hp but it would have delayed the delivery more than six months. Also, I...

    1973 Convertible

In 1973, I special ordered a convertible, 350 HP engine, 4 speed close ratio transmission and basically every option available. It was a nice car but I sold it in Washington DC after a little over 10,000 miles in the middle of the gas crises. I have regretted it ever since. I won't admit what I...

Is an extended warranty negotiable ?

It never occurred to me that the price was negotiable when I bought it from the Chevy Dealer, but it turned out to be a great buy. It paid for the entire cost and then some within 30 days when the dealer decided to replace the pistons in my 2000's engine due to excessive "slap". That work alone...

    LT4 Need some LT4 Advice

I had a 96 LT4 Convertable that I bought with 97,000 miles and sold it with 107,000 after I bought a 2000. It ran great and I have no doubt that if you care for the car properly and use Mobile One it would last for a long time beyond the 107,000. It ran very well and was really fast - especially...
