    Tire Choice Help Needed

If want to save some bucks on a Z rated tire, run a comparison on Kumho Ecsta, Hankook Ventus, and Bridgestone Fuzion. JCS44 LT4 Vert

    What's this Oil Leak?

Hey Pedro, That's a good run-down. I think since mine is only a small drip that never has reached the floor, I'm going to let the major work ride for a while and see what happens. I'm hoping it's just that CAS O-ring. Thanks, John

    LT4 LT4 performance

Cruise control at 150? Now tell us where you can do that for any distance! I'm on my way.

    LT4 LT4 performance

Call me stupid or whatever, but I had to try it out. Took it to 150mph last weekend in 5th - no problem at all and it was still pulling strong. I chickened out very shortly thereafter. JCS44 LT4 vert

    How hot is too hot?

228-230 is about normal for when the first fan comes on. The second comes on about 235. All sounds normal to me and these engines are designed to run hot. Just make sure there's no junk caught on the front of the radiator. There's a lot of debate about the standard 185 stat vs the 160, and...

    C5 wheels on a C4?

Suggest you look up "AFS Corvette Wheels" on ebay. AFS makes some nice wheels and they have C5 styles in 17 inch sizes with the correct offset, etc. JCS44 96 LT4 Vert

    What's this Oil Leak?

I also understand there's a crank angle sensor in that area that has an o-ring seal that can leak. Anyone familiar with that?

    What's this Oil Leak?

Hey LT4 gang, The last time I changed my oil, I noticed it being a little wet under the front of the engine on that cross member. It wasn't much to speak of and I think I had the same thing on a 95 LT1. Is this maybe an ooze fron the front main seal or.....? Any ideas? Thanks, JCS44 LT4...

    lt-4 vs. Zr-1 or Z06

You know, this is a really refreshing and informative thread. Thanks to all. I see too many of these where it's Vette vs Mustang which makes no sense at all to me. JCS44 LT4 Vert

    5w-30 or10w-30?

On the oil question, I noticed that Mobil One now has a new version out that's good for a year or 15,000 miles. This sounds like just the thing for those of us who only drive on nice days. I saw this at a Walmart. The cost is about $4 more, or about $24 for 5 qts. JCS44 LT4 Vert, Blk

Is 11.5 volts enough for a proper start?

This is a common problem on cars that aren't driven daily. I keep a trickle charger on mine most of the time for that reason. All the electronics on these things drain the battery over time and the alternator is not intented to charge a low battery. Get one of the peak type chargers that...

    Got the Vette Dyno'd

Are all chassis dynamometers and the test procedure pretty much the same? Thanks, JCS44 LT4 Vert

    Horn doesn't work

I had this problem on a 95. The positioning of the horns allows moisture to get inside and corode the innards to the point they won't work. Before you go pulling the wheel and all, I'd check with a volt meter to see if you have power at the horn connectors when you press the wheel buttons. If...

    Serpentine....

Get the belt from GM and do it yourself. Others above have stated the procedure pretty well and it really isn't that hard. There are a couple of spots where it's a tight squeeze and you have to make sure it's completely on all the pulleys. Just do it.

    ASR and Wheel Spin

With the ASR on, about how much wheel spin should you get? I keep my tire pressure at 34-35lbs all around and getting on it but without just flooring it and dumping the clutch, I get a brief chirp and then just pure traction. What should I expect with the ASR off? JCS44 LT4 Vert, Blk/Blk

    LT4 LT4 "real" HP

Well, after all the responses to this post and some research on other sites, it appears that an average stock LT4 can be expected to deliver about 300rwhp and and a little more than 300rwt. This equates roughly to 355hp at the crank and 360 ftlb torque. Not too shabby for an engine rated at...

    LT4 LT4 Vette or 4th Gen Camaro?

Buy the LT4. It a one of a kind. Camaro's may be nice, but they're a dime a dozen just like Mustangs.

    LT4 Manual Transmission in LT4

No argument with anything stated so far. The ZF 6 speed is a no kidding race car transmission so some gear noise is normal but it seems to vary from example to example. My 95 LT1 would whine in 1st and 2nd and then was quiet. My current LT4 is quiet in all gears. Iy does make some noise at...

    Service LTPWS lamp

Simmer down guys. We all know those sensors are a pain and expensive. I plan on not touching them. The EMT tires will stay on the sawblades with the sensors. If I do anything at all, I will simply put different tires on the aftermarket wheels and pull Service LTWPS bulb. PS-I talked to half...
