Thats also very common knowledge in the plating industry. Repro's for the most part don't fit and or work right, plus low quality plateing. If you have an original, plate it and use it damn the cost. I always say, thank God for repro stuff IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN ORIGINAL!!!!
I think that is great move, that box. I've been looking at it as well. I have never had many problems with the orig style of pump either, thats the one I would use.
Let us know what you think when it's all installed.
Another bit of info: Once a bumper has been in the copper plateing tank, then it goes into the nickle tank for 2-2 1/2 hrs, it is then into the chrome tank for 5-10 min, = triple plateing. Copper/nickle/chrome. Some call that 'Show Chrome'. Our show chrome was copper-polished-copper polished...
As I mentioned in my previous post, you cannot remove the swirls with any kind of kind of rouge or any other product.
Many people don't realize that Chrome is a micro thin CLEAR plateing over nickle. Nickle is the shiney stuff. Chrome was developed in the late 1920's to plate over decorative...
I used to work at a chrome shop. Never use any chrome polish on your nice new chrome. Treat you chrome like paint using ony your best paint products. You will not now get the swirls out. You may be able to fill them with several coats of wax.
I am looking for a set of inside door trim panels from 65-66 convert. Ideally the ones that someone is going to throw away after buying replacements colour not important.
Thanks, Frank.
I clicked on and read the "mad" site and granted the guy knows his stuff. But I think he is exagerating some issues. He is not selling alts but he is selling harnesses. Altho I am no expert I do have reservations about the one wire systems. I have never seen the need for a 100amp alt and I am...
You one wire alternator should have your 10guage [red] lead from the stud on the alt to the pos [large] stud on the starter solenoid. That's it. No key or interuption required. On my '65 the 10guage does actually run through the horn relay to the starter but it is the same end result. The pos...
I should have mentioned that mine is a Hurst. The vib occurs at highway speeds and is quite noticeable. On long trips I spin my shifter ball off to stop the rattle. I stuck in the other driveshaft tonite, will spin 'er up tomorrow. There is no movement of the yoke in the tailshaft bushing. I've...
Yes recently syn comes in the crankcases of many cars but in the 90's porche, mercedes, corvettes, caddilacs etc came with fossil oil and recommended to change to syn at the first oil change.
As I stated earlier, I am not an engineer. Too slippery to seat rings works for me. There's no way it...
A rope type rr main seal in a 327?? Just a second here. I need to hear that from someone else because I don't belive it. I've been wrong before.
The oils available to day are far superior to the oils avail in '67, but synthetic is a bunch better again. Your gaskets and seals will be fine. If it...
Since I've had my car it has always had a bit of a irritating vib. It would be nice if it was gone. I'm going to try a different driveshaft tomorrow. In the past 2 years in my never ending work in progress, thinking back, for various reasons, I have changed the eng, clutch, flywheel, bell...
I don't understand how synthetic oil will destroy a pre '82 engine??
I agree that you may notice some aditional seepage. Some minor additional cleaning is a small price to pay for vastly superior protection
Thanks guys, it just seems that a fuel gauge shouldn't kill a batt in that short time. I'm using an accessory temp gauge and my brake alarm seems to be fed from some other feed. I just checked, my batt is up so my draw is gone. Success.
My wiring, among other things isn't exactly "as original"...
I finally got a chance to look for the draw that runs my batt down in 2-3 days. It looks like its my fuel guage, that is the only live circuit. The guage is full time, not keyed. Will the fuel gauge draw my batt down in that time? There could be other stuff on that ciruit but I haven't found it...
I think if the old guy made a fair/generous offer, good for him. I guess you may get to a point where you realize that you can't take it with you. It beats having some calling and bugging you with a low ball offer for your stuff like I just had at my place today [again].
It's not a good idea...
