    jumped starter

Fixing the starting system correctly is preferred, but you may have to rewire the system, as it appears that there have been some modifications installed. If you want the system stock, you will need a wiring schematic, and take one step at a time from square one. This is not an easy job...

    jumped starter

OK, I understand your situation. As I suggested, you can just run the wires through the wall to a momentary switch to start your engine. The switch will make the connection (just what you are doing when you 'jump' the wires). Just make sure the switch can handle the amps. If you are not...

    jumped starter

If you are looking for a simple fix, you could just extend the wires from the firewall to a hidden 'momentary' switch under the dash so you can control your ignition from inside the vette. You should measure the amps when you connect the firewall wires so that you install a comparable amp...

    jumped starter

If the starter was activated by shorting the wires at the fire wall, you demonstrated that the solenoid and starter functioned properly. Your problem is not with your starter or solenoid. I assumed you shorted the starter posts, by-passing the solenoid.

    jumped starter

If the starter only spins when you short the starter posts, the solenoid switch is faulty.

    Vibration at speed

Cheap/quick fix.... don't exceed 69mph in 6th, or shift down to pass:upthumbs Your original post addressed vibration, engine miss, reduced fuel mileage. Now you are only concerned with vibration... that MAY be solved with tire inflation, alignment, wheel balance. Take a tip from gmjunkie...

    Vibration at speed

Hey Jesse! ..... The Hunter 9700 balance machine corrected a misfire and declining fuel mileage on your C5? Must be a new feature on that machine.;) billday..... a 'miss' at speed in high gear can be a symptom of a failing opti. I'm not suggesting that is your problem, only that it is a symptom.

    Power steering pump

The problem with the pump may be more than leaking seals, but don't expect the seals to expand overnight. As I mentioned, it may take a week, or longer. If you are leaking a bottle of sealer everyday, then it may be time to replace the pump

    Power steering pump

Try a bottle or two of power steering pump sealer. Doesn't cost much, and you are not doing any damage while using the sealer. It may take a week or so for the sealer to expand the seals. http://www.midwayautosupply.com/detailedproductdescription.asp?17187&affiliateid=froogle
