    C1: November 10, 2006 Body shop update

Hope to have Phoenix there this winter (but not on the schedule I had planned) :ugh Herb, looks like you have a retentive body guy. And that's a good thing. As for the cost? You usually get what you pay for. And since life isn't a dress rehearsal, dig deep and enjoy! Cheers! Jeff

Shop fire - car is toast

Steve, Glad you were able to intervene before any serious damage occurred. Wish I had been so lucky. If my mechanic had been anywhere near the shop when it went up, I know he would have foolishly risked his life trying to rescue the cars in jeopardy. The car wasn't going to (and won't!)...

Shop fire - car is toast

Tom, Still can't cross the police line (condemned building) to get close enough to the car to take any detailed photos. Once I can, I'll post them. Great idea about using casters on the corners. Since we may have a bit of a clearance problem getting the car over the lip of the garage entrance...

Shop fire - car is toast

Barry On the first item, I sincerely appreciate the offer, and I may yet take you up on it (although the car has been hung up since January and I am a bit itchy (no B on that) to get it together and running. So, I know about folks who take their time... Item two: I knew that at some point...

Shop fire - car is toast

Barry, I may take you up on the offer, but my first priority at this point is to get the car to safe haven. I have a few options up here that I need to check out as well. I know that you spoke very highly of the quality of your painter's work as well as his integrity throughout your epoch...

Steve Most everything I've heard about them has been positive. I hope it works the same for me. Thanks, Jeff

Shop fire - car is toast

So many of you have alluded to how it must feel when something like this happens. The short answer is, it stinks. But life goes on and I always try face adversity straight on and deal with whatever needs to be dealt with. It didn't take me too long to get over the saddness, and I suppose a...

Shop fire - car is toast

Barry, My 'puter is getting tired and doesn't want to connect to the link for the dolly. And I'm too tired right now to coax it out of her. I'll check it in the AM. Sounds like the same one that Herb built for his '60. My situation is complicated by the fact that the body is still on the...

Shop fire - car is toast

Just got off the phone with the owner of the building. Apparently there's some tension between him and my mechanic, who rents the place. I have a good relationship with both of them and it looks like I'll be serving as a liaison to try to keep the lines of communication open, at least until...

Shop fire - car is toast

VNV Phoenix...I LOVE it! For the two years I've owned the car, I've been searching for a gender neutral name for "her". I think you hit on it. Met with the insurance adjuster today. He could only do a cursory assessment because of all the debris in the way. Once the roof of the building is...

Shop fire - car is toast

Thank you all for your support. It means a lot! I'm pretty sure we'll be able to bring her back to life. I'll post updates. My heart goes out to my mechanic. His life and livelihood have been put in a tailspin. When I showed up to help him shovel out yesterday, he broke down and cried...

Shop fire - car is toast

Hello All, My apologies if this gets a bit lengthy, but I hope you understand. Over the next few months I may be seeking your counsel and consolation for reasons evident from the photos below. My ’66 original numbers BB vert had been undergoing a body-on for several months and throughout the...

Wax nostalgic, name 3 cars that you could have bought but didn't

This thread really does wax nostalgic! A long time ago, after doing tons of research, and working lots of hours after class, I was about to order my first new car - a 1970 Dodge Dart GTS 340 - until I discovered that Mopar streamlined the old boxy sleeper and added exaggerated scoops for 1970...

63 Project, My Great NCRS Judging Adventure....

Thanks for the great post and all of the details. I'll probably be ready for judging in about a year or so (engine, engine bay and trans in the final throes of being totally revamped now - paint next year...). Your first-hand account provides valuable insight into what I might expect. Will...

    Thanks AGAIN to VNV

Wait a minute! Do I detect a can of Pla-Doh on the work stand on the left? Some new gasket sealing technique that we should know about? And does it come in Chevy orange? :D Cheers! :beer

Need the Article on C2 Door Pull Repairs

Paul My heart goes out to you. We suffered through the pain of that horrible disease with my mother-in-law a few years back. I had no idea how devastating and taxing it was until we lived through it. No third party news report can accurately convey the extent of the impact. It certainly...

heater core outlets, straight or bent?

You may want to consider having the core pressure tested before you install it, even though it's new. A few bucks could save you a lot of duplicative (and explative) work. ;)
