Why is '53 - '62 considered the same generation?

This discussion hinges on how we define "generation".

[PICS] Satin Graphite vs Carbon Flash Metallic ZR1 Wheels

I ended up with Corvette Racing Yellow, but the wheels...I like the Satin Graphite color but hate the design. In fact, I ordered a set of Forgeline GS1Rs and will put my Satin Graphite ZR1 wheels up for sale.

Help! 1986 Vette Dies 20-30 minutes after starting

When it dies, do you know what causes it? That is, does the engine quit because of fuel starvation or does it quit because of an electrical issue? What is the fuel pressure when you test it according to the Factory Service Manual? Have you changed the ignition module inside the distributor?

Blue Bullet Blog-The C6 Ownership Experience

Yesterday morning, Pilot transport picked-up the "Blue Bullet" and will take it to their yard in Brighton MI by way of Arizona and Indiana, two stops the driver must make to pick-up other vehicles. Pilot Transport's, Ann Ruble, first put paper floor mats in the car then covered the seat with...

Blue Bullet Blog-The C6 Ownership Experience

By the time I had 3000 miles on the engine since the rebuild, it was obvious to me, via careful checking of oil levels using the required "LS7 procedure" (run engine until oil temp is at lest 150°F, shut the engine off, wait exactly five-minutes then check the oil) starting as soon as I left...

Blue Bullet Blog-The C6 Ownership Experience

No. In fact, we just took delivery of a C7 ZR-1. After studying the C8 issue, I decided that, for what we like to do with Corvettes–long road trips–the ME car would not make much sense as the rumor is that it has less room for luggage. I was able to find a dealer who'd sell one to us at sticker...

    code P1518

For MY97, DTC P1518 is a fault in the serial data circuit which allows the TAC module and the PCM to communicate. The diagnosis of this is fairly complex having 28 steps and requiring a test light, a DMM and the Factory Service Manual. The repair will either be replacement of the PCM...

Help! Broken belt, car overheats, no air conditioning, no coolant, leaking water

Before I can answer some of your questions, I need to get you to elaborate on this: When you say that are you talking about low oil level or low or no oil pressure. If you don't know or can't remember, just say that, don't start the engine to find out.

    OBD 1 code 28

The Factory Service Manual for 1992 shows DTC 28 is a Quad-Driver Module (QDM) #3 error. QDM 3 controls the AC clutch and the engine cooling fans. QDMs are inside the ECM. It is possible that the ECM has failed but that's just speculation on my part. If the ECM died, the engine would not run...

92 vette Fuse #1 blown, new fuse blows immediately HELP!

Yep. You have a short. You also need the manuals for a wiring diagram. Then you need a 12-volt test light and, maybe, a digital multi meter (DMM) to help you find the short. Some basic electrical trouble shooting skills will help. Fuses are not labeled with numbers. They are labeled with...

LT4 Alternator and serpentine belt help

My gut feeling on this is 1) use the right belt–Pep Boys is a lousy place to buy Corvette parts. Try gong on-line at RockAuto and you'll find the right belt. 2) Replace the alternator–and, again, look at RockAuto for parts–and, also, check all the wiring associated with the alternator.

2003 Ride Height Sensor help needed

GM parts info shows only two front sensors, left and right. They are listed as just sensors for electronic suspension. There is no differentiation between F55 (MagnaRide) and F45. The implication is that the same sensors were used for both types of dampers.

Blue Bullet Blog-The C6 Ownership Experience

The short answer is: the car's going back to Katech for a third visit, this time at their expense. The long answer is coming soon.

    Help! coolant leak

OMG A gallon of coolant every two weeks is a freakin' ton of coolant. If there are no signs of combustion gases in the coolant and there are no external leaks, if there are no symptoms of a head gasket leak from cooling system to a cylinder than you likely have a cracked or porous head. Pull...

For Sale: 1996 Chevrolet C4 Corvette $6500 OBO

Not looking for a C4. That's a great looking car. Love the read w. black wheels. When you say you have Z06 seats, which Z06 did they come out of. Lastly, put the front air dam back on. While it is there for aero reasons it's also there as part of the engine cooling system. It's forces air...

    Exhaust bypass system

First of all, when there is vacuum at the two actuators, they will close not open. If there is a system failure, the valves stay open and you may see a warning message on the DIC. Battery disconnect might help, but I doubt it To troubleshoot that system, you need a dealer-grade scan tester...

Transmission leaks, do stop leaks work, Manual 4 speed

Not sure which gasket is the "main gasket" but Muncies have paper or fiber gaskets between every part. The guy who told you to put that trans together with no gaskets or sealers is, indeed, a "so-called expert" rather than someone who actually knows about transmissions. As others have said...

Question: 2019 ZR1 Front Splitter Endcaps

Harlan Charles, the Corvette Program Manager, says the end caps are deleted on Convertibles with ZTK because of the aerodynamic differences between the two body styles.
