    Question on operating temp?

226° sounds a little high to me given those conditions: 50° outside and only 20 minutes of idling. My car never gets that high when it's idling. You're still well within the safety zone, but in my opinion every c4 owner should pull and clean the radiator and fan shroud every couple of years...

    Favorite Corvette Magazine

I don't buy corvette magazines because you're mostly paying for advertisements. Take away all the other articles about other model years you're not interested in and you're left with very little useable information. For me, it's far more informative and entertaining to come to CAC, you can...

    Coolant Temp

232° seems a bit high to me. It's not overheating yet, but it's getting there, IMHO it shouldn't be running this hot. You can always pull the radiator and clean it, lots of junk gets stuck between the condenser and the radiator, and also the radiator fins get clogged with dirt and junk over...

    Front Spoiler

When I bought my car years ago, it was already lowered. I was scraping across everything: speed bumps, coming out of driveways, etc. Prior to removing the spoiler I monitored the coolant temperature, since I was worried about the effect its absence would have on the cooling. Well, I removed...

    Waterpump flywheel (??)

You guys. The thing weighs ten pounds. It's impossible to check the w/p weep hole with it on. I have a hunch, like G Winter, that it accelerates w/p bearing failure, since it weighs three times as much as the pump. It makes the serp belt harder to change. It doesn't do much of anything...

How difficult and expensive to fix this headlight.

I agree with Jon, usually when the headlight looks like that the door panel is misaligned, very easy to fix, you can loosen the screws and move it around and eyeball the perimeter gap to make sure it's even all the way around. I can't see how those panels get misaligned in the first place. Of...

    Waterpump flywheel (??)

Most people just remove the thing. I removed mine some time ago with no ill effects.

    1989 Style 11" Wheels

My car has 89 style 11" wheels in the rear. For these wheels there is no need for flares, they fit neatly inside the wheel well just like the stock 9.5". I keep tabs on ebay too, and I remember seeing these wheels a couple of times over the last five years or so.

1991 CORVETTE ORIGINAL HARDTOP WILL FIT A 1984 THRU 1996 CORVETTE

Yes that's right if you buy a hard top, make sure the brackets and the bolts come with it! You will also need a tiny wrench to secure the bolts to the decklid holes, I just used a craftsman ratcheting box end wrench from sears. Also if your car did not come with the ht option and you want to...

    Hardtop Re-paint

When I bought a used one for my triple-black 90 eight years ago, a repaint cost $600, but that included a bit of fiberglass repair too, it was scratched up a bit. When he was done, it was as good as new. I wonder where that car is now...

    Carpet questions

It took me several days to replace my carpet, but I took my time. Yes it's an involved project that requires the removal of nearly everything in your interior but the dashboard. You'll have to do some cutting, and gluing, but it's worth it in the end. I used mass back too, but the carpet I...

    Rear Hatch Louver

I too remember when Ecklers still sold them, years ago. I don't think anyone makes them anymore. I agree they help to keep the car cool inside, but most people just tint their window now. Maybe you can find them on ebay.

Hardtop for a C4 Roadster...a yes, no or maybe?

I had a hardtop on my 90 roadster and when the top was installed the car was very quiet and solid. It has a built-in roll bar that stabilizes the car, in addition it is attached to the car at six different points. That, together with the x-frame bracing under the convertible, makes the car a...

"opinions please"do c4 corvettes look good with rear mount spoilers"?

I'll go along with everyone else and say it's your car, you should have it how you like it despite what anyone else thinks. It's my opinion, however, that spoilers are non-functional and goofy-looking, and I would never put one on my car.

    Full Restoration 1984 Corvette

I agree with lt4man. There's nothing wrong with restoring a beloved car. A lot of you guys sound like his parents. Let him do what he wants.

    What Is It????

This is a weird one. I just checked my car and the crossmember isn't painted. I'm wondering why anyone would do that.

OK so I am over 50 years old!

I got my first one when I was 27, and I never looked back. Wanted one my entire life, always drove practical cars. Saw a red coupe for sale in San Francisco and fell in love with it immediately, bought it for $10k. What a rush driving it for the first time, I wish that everyone had the chance...

Left side lower than right side

My height is 1/2" to 1/4" off all the way around. It's the nature of the car, I wouldn't worry about it.

    Installing tires

Tire shops deal with tires day in and day out every day, all day long, seven days a week. It's what they do. Their business goal is to get you new tires and get you out the door. They don't have time to joyride your car, so you don't have to worry about someone driving your car around, unless...

I can't decide which way the car looks best!

I loved the hardtop on my triple-black 90, I should never have sold that car. Boy did I ever get some admiring glances in that car.
