Corvette gets up to 87 mpg

My '02 averages around 19mpg, combined city and highway. I use it as a daily driver in good weather, so that includes a lot of city driving. The great gas mileage is one of the things that absolutely blew me away about the vette (this is my first vette). You get it all: outstanding performance...

    Loc Code

Theft-Deterrent Feature After Power Loss See pages 3-29 and 3-30 of the C5 owners manual, specifically "Unlocking the theft-deterrent feature after a power loss." Sounds like the theft-deterrent feature is activated/enabled on your car, and it engaged due to a power loss. The manual has...

Spring is here, took the first ride! (I love my car)

Had mine out Friday between snow storms...literally. The sun made a brief appearance for about 1/2 minute so I siezed the opportunity and got in a couple of hours of quality time with the young lad. However, we got a tad dirty from melting snow puddles mixed with, arggghh, mud, so a bath was...

40th Anniversary My new 40th Ruby Coupe

I agree with bluecoupe, one of the best looking vettes ever. I'm wondering, maybe your stable mates will take to each other and make a new baby vette? ;)

    What exhaust would you prefer?

Hijacked Picture! JAG, No, it was purchased from Thorstad Chev in Madison WI, and I did a museum delivery. Was going to sell it awhile back, our camera was busted, and I needed a picture that looked like mine for the "for sale sign." Found this one via a google search. You caught me ;) . -Dave

Spark plug wires and coil recommendations.

I plan on replacing the stock plug wires this spring. Was thinking of using Magnacor. A friend at work recommended replacing the stock coil as well. He recommends MSD for both. Is it worth replacing the coil;shrug?

    What exhaust would you prefer?

I have a Borla stainless cat-back (not the Stinger). It rumbles real purtty when it's idling, doesn't rattle the cage when touring, but announces itself loudly when you put the pedal to the metal. A friend at work has the last production year special edition Camaro and I think he put an SLP...

    I Miss (Driving) My C5

Hello JoeMackin! Grew up in Fort Atkinson and moved to Madison after getting out of the Navy. We lived on the west side near Middleton for a long time on Longmeadow Road, but now live in the burbs in Oregon. I like driving pony cars and always kept a Camaro, Trans Ams, or Mustang Cobra :eyerole...

    I Miss (Driving) My C5

Wisconsin is a tease. At the end of February and beginning of March we had a couple of beautiful weekends - dry and sunny and 50-60 degrees. Just toying with us :mad. This state is a swarthy taskmaster! Give me San Diego or give me death...

    Transparent Lift-Off Top

2002 coupe, dual roof option. Sorry to hear that so many of you are having this problem. This made me go out and take a closer look at mine, but it looks fine. I use the transparent top almost exclusively. The car is garaged when not in use, but still feels the bite of Wisconsin winters...

    Will My Corvette Suffer Amnesia?

2 Weeks? Serious? If the car sits for more than 2 weeks I'm supposed to disconnect the neg batt terminal? :confused I've never done it, the car has sat (grammar??) for more than 2 weeks (Wisconsin winters) and I've never had a problem. If this is true, how many of you that let the car sit...

    Spare tire

Replaced the stock Goodyear ZPs with Michelin Pilot Sport ZPs last summer at about 22K. I'm torn. The Michelin's seem to give a "softer" ride, which is great for touring, but the Goodyear's seemed better for performance driving.

Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil (How many miles do you recommend between changes?)

Mobil 1 Oil, filter and lube between 3000 and 4000. Cheap insurance.

    Front Plate used?

Michelin ZP Tires How do you like the Michelins? Are they stock? My '02 came with Goodyear ZP and I replaced them with Michelins at about 24K. Not sure which I prefer as they both have pro's and con's. For general cruising I like the Michelins, but for performance driving I think I preferred...
