We drive Vettes because we love tham and are nuts. I fully agree with Hib. Generally, C5 Z06 production amounted to ~25% of production. Even the '04 Z16, IMHO, will not be that collectible as we have all witnessed how those wonderful GM decals are misaligned and how they (don't) wear over...
Don't waste your money on the GM poorly engineered and costly (~$400) kit. Just carry a plug kit and some fix-a-flat cans--AND--belong to AAA. I put my kit away for some future owner and have enabled the TPS system in my '03 Z. Best mod I've done. So now I just carry a plug kit and a small...
Back in the day when I had my '81, I just followed the Shop Manual wiring diagram and eliminated that little orange timer box troublemaker. Then my lights functioned beautifully and I never had to look over my shoulder to make the lights went off. That timer/relay was/is a troublemaker.:D
I owned a new '81 for many years. We found that (believe it or not) the best shock was the Sear's gas shock. Cheap and reliable and a great guarantee at the time. Especially with the composite rear spring.:)
I have the T-1S on the front and T-1R on the rear on my '03 Z06. They are fantastic, especially in our usually heavy rain here in S. Florida. They are very quiet and after 14K miles are wearing very well. My local Firestone dealer got them for me for less money than me purchasing from one of...
Good question. I recently installed the TPS system in my '03 Z06 and I love it. Got my sensors from the dealer. Checked shop manual and no info on checking them although the batteries in them are supposedly good fo 10+years.:)
Pop the Trunk
On the 2003 Z the factory only installed a trunk hinge on the driver's side. There were (are) so many complaints that GM issued a TSB to add the right side latch for customers who complained of this problem. I had that done, but every now and then the trunk doesn't fully pop up...
Try some AmsOil fluid. I did and it makes quite a difference. Many of the changes you pointed out are evolutionary and for the extra 100 HP IMO. Good info to have. Thanks.
All and C4C5:
Just got the car back from dealer. "Verified that ignition cylinder/pass lock is shorted". Replaced cylinder and a slew of tumblers, retainer, spring etc. Hope this solves the problem. Any idea as to cost of all this? While I was there I also had right window repaired...
C4C5:
I just checked codes and have 1631. Also a U1160H. Security light is flashing and car starts perfectly now. I just love intermittent problems@!#*#*! Ihave the GM extended warranty and need to get driver's window repaired anyway. I guess it's into the shop next week. But after driving...
Sorry, but I didn't notice. If it happens again I will try to stay calm and take notice. Please educate me--as you usually do and thanks very much in advance.
So after dinner last night I go out to my daily driver (2003 Z06) and it won't even crank. Lights bright and all electrical stuff strong--not like the last time battery died. Tried to start this morning before calling AAA and it started perfectly. Ran over to dealer who said can't do anything...
GerryLP is right on. Living up North you'll need the choke in the winter. For a few bucks you can buy a manual choke conversion kit at any auto parts store.
When first went to the rear rubber duckie in 1974, there were 2 license plate lights. After that they switched to a single license plate light and somewhere along the line installed a light to see the spare tire lock which comes with the interior light.:confused
I recently took delivery of my 2003 Z06. The dealer had notification of the build date and I also received from the factory a "birth certificate" signed by the factory executives. Nice touch. My car #5224 was built 8/26/02. Check with your dealer.
