Re-Programming after rear end gear change ??

Sorry, I don't have the 3.54, but is what I am thinking about. I want to see how my car runs when I take it to the strip next month. I have the stock 3.07 (G92 RPO), with the mods I've done I am hope to get into the high 12's range, if I don't the taller gears is the next option to try and get...

    Electrical Problem

Was the starter new, or a rebuilt. It wouldn't be the first time a faulty starter was installed. It sounds like the solinoid. I'd recheck the starter.

    New L81 Owner

Thanks Mike, just the kind of input I knew I would find here. I am going to make a list of everything I think I will need for the restore, and I'll let you know how it's going, and what help I might need. Good advice about the parts, I've kind of gotten use to paying extra on my other Vette, the...

    New L81 Owner

Well I found an opportunity to buy another Vette, found an 81 that was garaged for the last 5 years, an declared none op to the DMV. It's a 4 speed, seems to pull hard through the gears, motor strong, idles a bit rough at startup, choke not working properly, paint and interior a bit rough...

    new owner of 94 Vette

Good luck with the key fob. I also did not get one when I purchased my car, so I ordered one from Pace automotive, I have never been able to program the thing to work. My understanding is that there is a transmitter under the dash that can go out, which I will assume is the case with...

    new engine? rebuilt engine?

I agree with what you are saying about never saying never, which is why I suggested crating up the old motor, you just never know. The parts to build the stroker are readily available, and if you have the time, space, and knowledge to rebuild the motor yourself it is cost effective. But if you...

    New C4 owner; shifting problem

The problem with going to one of the lube places is that they don't know what to look for to find a problem. If it were me, and I suspected a tranny problem, I would either drop the pan and check the bands myself, or go to a good transmission mechanic and have it looked over. Sometimes you can...

    New C4 owner; shifting problem

Yes Taurus! That was the cold slap in the face I needed to get off of my a$$ and get the darn thing fixed once and for all. I was waiting for the racing season to start, but that did it then and there. It had 94xxx on it at the time. The car seemed to be well taken care of it before I got it.

My first mod, a foil for the throttle body.

The air foil should help with a stock throttle body. If you look at a stock TB there is a lot of turbulance created because of the design. There are a lot of nook and crannies that will get the air moving every different direction. Check your stock TB out, poor design, which is something that...

    California Emissions

One thing I forgot to add is there are no CARB approved long tube headers, so they wont pass the visual inspection.

    California Emissions

The reality of it is, if you have the federal smog stuff attached, you will most likely be ok. The guy at the local smog station does not know what every car should have when he does his visual inspection. I think the basicaly wing it. I have had cars pass with mods that were not carb approved...

    new engine? rebuilt engine?

I didn't see fuel filter in the list of items you have replaced, it is often overlooked, and see the milage on your car you may want to change it. Also the air filter. You could have some deposits on a valve seat. they do sell some on the shelf type items - tune up in a can stuff that burns the...

    New C4 owner; shifting problem

When you had it in the shop did they actually pull the pan? When I first took mine in they only scanned, and road tested. Everything seemed fine, no codes, so they thought it was a pcm problem. I was actually able to get the car to run better for a couple of days by cleaning the air filter, and...

    Engine cleaning - opti-spark distributor

I have used water, very carefully on the back parts of my engine, the wheel well area, and the headlight area, always being very careful to not get anywhere near the optispark. I have never had a problem, but again I am VERY careful. You also need to be very careful if you are shooting water up...

    New C4 owner; shifting problem

I agree, sounds like you're burning clutches in you tranny. You'll want to drop the tranny pan, and check the band for slop. There shouldn't be any. When mine went it did not show up on the scanner, had to drop the pan to figure out the problem. Good luck!
